The odds are Wemby is destined to an injury shortened career. He may be the best player ever to play during that time but he will be a ticking time bomb likely to be more and more injury limited as he approaches 30 if he even makes it to 30.
Kareem played until he was 41, Dikembe until 42, Shaq and Artis Gilmore played until they were 38, David Robinson 37, Wilt 36. Yeah, those guys weren't quite as tall as Wemby, but they were all over 7'1", and there have been so few players Wemby's height to even play real minutes in the NBA that we just don't have a good track record one way or another. Yes, a handful of guys his height have flamed out with injuries, but it's the very definition of "small sample size". You can't really predict anything based upon such a small number of players.
