Do you think the Nets made the right moves in trading away Stephon Marbury and also trading away the rights of Eddie Griffin? I know they got three players in return for Grffin but do you see any of them having much success in the NBA. The Nets have had many disappointing drafts and seasons. I hope they didn't just take away some possible excitement in order to play it safe now.

    Marty Burns---

After watching the raw-but-spectacular Griffin rebound, block shots and slither inside for put-backs in summer league action last week, I'm thinking the Nets might have made a mistake.
Though they got three decent prospects in Richard Jefferson, Brandon Armstrong and Jason Collins, the 6-9 Griffin looks like he could be a star
. It was probably a safe play by the Nets, but it could come back to haunt them. As for the Kidd deal, you can't go wrong with a first-team all-NBA selection. Unfortunately, the Nets don't have much to go with him right now. Keith Van Horn has not developed into a reliable go-to guy, and Kenyon Martin is still young. New Jersey needs better shooters, especially with the legalization of zone defenses. As clever as Kidd might be in delivering the ball, he still needs somebody to put it in the basket.

Cant wait to watch him play the Azzholes on Thursdays.

Im desperatly waiting for the game on Thursady as well,I want to get my 1st look at Griffin as well as TMo in some NBA action.

I think the Nets made a choice to get depth with the three picks but I still think we got a steal!I think Griffin would have done well there with Kidd like I think Martin will, maybe the Nets think they already had Griffin IN Martin,I dont know!

I really like Jefferson but if he doesent work on his shot a little he may end up like Harold Minor!I didnt know Armstrong but he looked ok in the game I saw last week on ESPN,and Collins could do something but he is a big question,he needs to stay healthy if so he can provide some decent minutes,he has a good jumper and get mix it up under the basket at times.

I wasn't impressed with the little I saw Jefferson play.

Brendan looks to have a shot.

    Collins?

I think this trade will go down and history, much like the Francis trade as major steals.

    vs Philly:
    9pts (3/6 from the field, 3/4 FT's)
    7 boards (3 offensive)
    3assists
    1 steal
    in 30 minutes

    vs Washington
    9 points (3/8 FG, 3/4 FT)
    5 boards (1 offensive)
    2 steals
    1 block
    in 20 minutes

    vs Atlanta
    3 points (0/1 FG, 3/4 FT)
    3 boards (2 offensive)
    2 blocks
    in just 10 minutes

I dunno if this says that he's going to be a player or not... they're not great stats, but the guy has a healthy rebounding appetite (if these are anything to go by) - all reports state that he's very physical, and that always helps a player who wants to make it in the NBA, and his power to the hoop is also reportedly strong.
    Don't write him off yet!

Like Vancouver had a choice of whether to trade him or not.... and the trade a major steal?
FYI, Dickerson has played great since going to Vancouver (17.3Ppg) and Harrington also played well his first season there (13.1ppg/6.9 rpg). While neither player may be the star the Francis is, the trade was made to get Vancouver depth, something they achieved by getting 2 good players in exchange for the 'one who could be very good' player.

I'd say that Houston got the upper hand in the trade, but not by a whole lot, the trade was GOOD for Vancouver too.

I actually think this is a good trade for both teams . . . we get one GREAT player, they get three good players.

Jefferson will be like Shandon Anderson, with more scoring eventually. I think Jason Collins was the best C of this draft (aside from the young "potentials" like Curry) -- he'll be a solid 15 and 10 guy when it's all said and done. I don't know about the SG they got, but it doesn't matter.

We didn't get a STEAL, both teams fared well.

I think the trade would have been good for both teams, had NJ picked Jefferson, Randolph and Dalembert instead of Jeferson, Colins, and Armstrong. Armstrong would have been available in the second round, easily. And his game resembles Iverson's, Barros's, and Edie House's..all good players, except one thing: he's not half the shotter Ivy,Barros and House are. That presents a BIG problem.
