Is it possible that the reason why the Rockets haven't committed to Hakeem because the are aware of his health (or lack thereof)? It just doesn't make any sense to me that the same guys ( Mo, Shan and Mooch) who the Rockets were so afraid of alienating if they went after C Web, are the same ones they are leaving in limbo due to the Hakeem situation. I mean, if the Rockets think that Mo, Shan and Mooch are a big part of their future, why are they risking losing them over a guy who will be sitting by a pool in Nigeria in a couple of years???

The whole point of this is so they don't lose their free agents. It's the reason they won't increase their offer above 4.1 million per season. If Mo Taylor or Moochie even thought about leaving, the Rockets would renounce Dream immediately and give them their deal(s). The front office guys aren't morons... they aren't going to let Mo and everyone else walk.

Because the Rockets have virtually no cap room until they resolve the Hakeem situation. They could renounce Hakeem (which would end this) then sign Shandon, Mo and Moochie, but if they could re-sign Hakeem to a lesser deal (which is what they're offering), they can still sign their other players.

That was not the case with Webber.... by pursuing Webber, the Rockets send out signals they won't be re-signing some of their other players (and a really bad signal to Mo Taylor).

By pursuing Hakeem, they're not giving that impression. They've more than likely told Mo and probably Shandon, "We won't do anything that will jeopardize our cap space to sign you guys..."
