Check the metrics. Defense isn’t just played on the perimeter, and there are tons of people clamoring for a rim protector. He’s literally one of the best in the league this year.

From the Athletic on Porzingis's fit with the Rockets:

"From the scouts: “Obviously a bit risky in terms of injury history. You question his toughness at times. But if it all works, you got a guy who can really stretch the floor, and be a good finisher around the rim. But he’s kind of that rare stretch five that can do a whole lot more in terms of creating his own shot and getting others involved. Defensively, he’s probably not helping them, and that would be my worry for their sake. Their defense is already bad and he didn’t help Washington at all this year in terms of rim protection or care factor, so that part could be a little tough.

So you know, take it up with the NBA scouts.

Wizards defense was better with Porzingis off the court by 1.8 points/100…same thing in Dallas as well

Porzingis was good to elite in Iso defense, post up defense and PNR roll man defense.
With a relatively high number of attempts.

I would never want him because of cost and injury, but he is literally what some of you have been asking for. A shot blocking, rim protecting big that can spread the floor on offense.

Kristaps Porzingis is expected to opt out of his contract and re-sign with the Washington Wizards, sources told Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Porzingis could command a multi-year deal for four-to-five years, ranging in between $134 million and $174 million.

Kyle Kuzma is also expected to opt out and re-sign with the team this summer.

Can't believe he's only 28. I wouldn't sign him to star money at this point.

If Porzing wants bunch a money why would Houston sign him? Considering his injury history and the fact this team could just draft a center.

He avg 23 and 8 and was healthy for Washington, they would only sign him to pair him around Segun, yet it would cost them.

May be last resort to get better, but who else would you sign Harden? Just don't see Harden and porz turning this rebuilding around. Spend all that money but may just land you a 8th seed exit every year with those 2.

they are just wandering the abyss at this point…signing all these guys to big long-term deals just to be a below .500 team that can’t even make the play-in

Since his ACL injury he averaged 44 games per season. Basically he misses half of the season.

Six years ago, I would have salivated for a chance of getting Porzingis. Not anymore.

Possible shift in direction for the Wizards, might not resign KP.

Mentor? Dude is immature AF. Started crying on Mavs cuz Luka wasn't passing to him enough and that's after Mavs saved him from the Knicks.

mentor in that he’s been around for a while . He’s a top pick that has had to deal with that pressure and has been traded around .

hey , knicks made the playoffs and mavs didn’t :)

    if he hasn’t matured , sure , don’t take him .

    Muy interesante

I don't love the idea of bringing in Kristaps but I dislike it less than some of the options people have floated. Amen at the 1, Jabari at the 3, Porzingis at the 4, and Sengun at the 5 would be a ridiculously tall starting group. Can Kristaps still play the 4 or is he strictly a center now?
