Supposedly there was a ring doorbell, but they do absolutely no good when you have 3 2000 lumen flashlights shining at it. By the time he got woke up, got his gun, and was able to check it the one cop at the door was backing off, but shining his flashlight at the door. The other 2 were still shining their light at the door.
What's that conservatives always say when folks get gunned down for "resisting"? Owner should have complied and listened to the officers, instead he took out his gun so he gets neutralized. U see how stupid that stance is when u apply it to any other police interaction?
the guy opened the door and got blasted like a second later…cops will shoot while speaking and not even give the victim a chance to react or comprehend what’s being said I have seen this situation play out so many times…they shoot and kill the homeowner before any person could even reasonably react
You can have a conversation through the doorbell, simply ask, "who is it?" But obviously not everyone can even afford the tech
Pointing a firearm at someone is considered an immediate lifethreatening threat under self defense laws. Remember in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial a key piece of evidence was the pic of Grosskreutz pointing his firearm at Rittenhouse. Yes the LEO should be held responsible for going to the wrong house and not announcing themselves sooner. Them firing as soon as they saw a firearm pointed at them would fall under reasonable self-defense.
This seems pretty damning: ""It’s not 5308?” the officer asks. “That’s what it said right there, right?” His colleague replies, “No, it said 5305, isn’t it?” When the officer who knocks at the 5305 address asks to confirm the correct location, the radio dispatcher tells him the home they’re looking for on Valley View Avenue is 5308, not 5305, video shows. The officer confirms he hears the address from the dispatcher and appears to say, “Don’t tell me I’m wrong,” before laughing at the idea they were at the wrong house, according to body-cam video." At that point they should have backed off and reassessed the situation.
That's the beauty of self-defense laws. If the cops also had their guns pointed when the man opened the door (could be someone off body cam), would it not be self defense for him to raise his gun in return? Watching how fast the home owner is shot down, the only audible words when the door actually opens is heyyy. No commands to lower the weapon. No shouts announcing who they are. It literally looks like how they film police academy where cardboard cutout pops up and has a gun.
It's damning to the fact that they got the wrong address, not that they didn't back off. They started walking away, and the door opened shortly after that.
Oh I agree with you 100%. They should have started screaming "Police" as soon as the door cracked. Screw up after screw up.
Question - did the homeowner have a reasonable self-defense to point the gun at people in his yard? These guys want to know...
to me, even if they did start screaming police as soon as the door opened, it’s too late because they always start blasting off shots immediately person’s brain can’t even register what they’re being told, or if they do, have the time to complete an action, before they are met with a hail of bullets one instance like this I saw a few months ago they showed up to somebody’s apartment in the dead of night…there had been some break-ins recently so he opens the door with a gun in his hand and that’s when the police do their usual shouting…guy puts his hands in the air and starts to kneel down but is shot and killed before a single knee can hit the floor from the door opening and him being shot multiple times wasn’t even 5 seconds
Someone who felt threatened by this couple pointing guns at them could shoot them and claim self-defense. It's the American way.
You and I both know that if someone shot them the person would be imprisoned and conservatives would cry foul that people should have the right to stand their ground on their own home.
Given how quickly they started shooting, I can't imagine they had their guns holstered. This self-defense culture we have in this country has really jumped the shark. Everybody is making sure someone else is on the losing end.
Exactly, you can't be free like that. So stop worrying. People worry when they want control over something they can't control. Get rid of your guns and let what happens happen.
I personally don't have a gun. I don't think having a gun will make me safer, and I've had someone point a gun at me more than once in my life. I don't want to be shot, and I don't want to shoot someone else. I think we'd all be safer if we made having a gun a privilege that carries great responsibility - and made sure those who carried them were of sound mind.
Sure, but the larger point is everyone has a claim to stand their ground. It's a recursive cycle of stupidity regarding stand your ground.
