i dunno that first lineup has to have a high chance of getting 50 wins. with good health of course.

smells like Stone is getting heat for the Green/Smith picks, so he planted this puff piece with a journo buddy...

You are right but this team should have been easily a 25-28 win team by now if things went right, clearly they didn't.

Even with 25 win you would still be arguably able to snatch the third worst record and a high pick.

35 wins next season shouldn't be considered a day dream.

But I guess that is why it's the Houston Rockets.

Feigen and media always cater to the organization and no high goals every year.

All sounds good unless they're talking about trading current prospects for veteran payers. Maybe the older ones. Only KPJ and KJ I'd be willing to trade and for salary reasons.

What we should trade is any picks we have in the coming 2 years (after 2013). Save the long term ones for upgrades after playoff losses.

In the meantime, we have two years before kids extensions kick in so be patient in finding the most truly max worthy FA we can find. This is a multiplier, don't f*ck with it. Getting that right means access to a second one is infinitely easier. Do not f*ck with that for two years. Also don't gut the team in trade obviously. Such players become available after playoffs typically and it's stupid to say Harden will be our best option for two years. Signing 34 year old to the max is exactly what it sounds like: a gigantic risk that can choke the franchise just when it needs to upgrade for the playoffs. There is a very good chance that for the final 2 years of his contract half of his $50m salary will be dead cap space. There's no way you're that insecure about who we can get.

Jaylen Brown or better. The better we get without them, the better the FA that will consider us. Kenny Atkinson has done this before, knows how to run offense through a C and has been on a championship team (Warriors). Really hope they bring that guy in.

We'll get Harden when we need him, not when he needs us. In a year or two we'll be over the cap with good assets and have a star player (or two) in place, we'll acquire his 50m for our worst contracts and 0 picks. Under the cap he is not worth $43-$50m to us anytime soon.

I just want them to bring vets who practice hard, play hard, can hit the 3 and can play defense. Two or three would be ideal. Two MLE-priced and one vet minimum is fine to create a product that can win 30+ and excite potential trade and FA targets.

Dillon Brooks, Aaron Brooks, Armoni Brooks?

    Dillon isn't a max player.

I think Sengun’s tenure with the Rox will come down to who we get in the draft. Do we need him if we get Wemby? Probably not. If we cannot sign Harden then he will likely be traded for a PG. The other thing that has made a Sengun trade more likely is Smith’s improved play.

This is a piece that has a lot of quotes, that is why Tate is likely in it over Sengun. Sengun's English is still limited in an interview setting, he knows some basic stuff, but probably wouldn't have enough that translates well to get people excited about next season via direct quotes. Even Jabari's has some errors in it when quoting directly.

They already did the Theis/Nwaba/Augustin signings. Imagine trying that again and thinking the results will be any different.
