I don't think Silas' issue is knowledge and x's and O's. His main issue was he doesn't command any presence. The Rockets have a team full of 19-22 year olds who have been treated as "alphas" throughout their entire life before the NBA.
Is Silas the very reason ya disappeared for months (or at least stayed away from game threads for a long along time)
You called it along with me my friend. Good job and it’s fun seeing all those idiots who trashed you. You were spot on.
I got a promotion at work, and have been working crazy hours. Couldn't keep up with games at all, but I'm back for good now. Feels good to be back. What did I miss?
you're back at the right time when tanking commander just left for good, in another word, you simply missed some ugly tanking games.
Personally I appreciate Silas for what he was. I said the day he was hired that he was nothing more than a tanking coach...someone you bring in when the team has no hope of contention during a the bad rebuild years that you ditch when you are finally about ready to take things seriously again with a real coach. Someone had to do that job, and it's a thankless job. He's ruined his coaching record and reputation, but he picked up a bit of experience.
I laughed, then looked up they're record. Holy heck...3rd seed in the West? I have been gone a long time.
...which is why I laugh when people compare Sengun to Sabonis defensively. Offense can get you some cheap regular season wins...but when playing the same team for 4-7 games, it's the defensive execution that wins titles.
I was rooting for him and wished he could have been more successful. He paid his dues over the years and seemed like a great guy and hire at the time. I hope he gets another chance down the road.
