Why does everything in American politics have to come down to money?

Thanks for saving my mind from being corrupted by the war-mongering babykiller Republicans who have been trying to unfairly steal my vote and the surplus value of my labor.

I will help support the revolution and immediately go out and buy a t-shirt at Hot Topic with Che Guevarra on it, and canvas all the local coffee shops, replacing their Wall Street Journals with Spartacus League pamphlets, and grainy xeroxes of dead Arab babies.

    We'll show 'em.

They'll all learn the reason the world isn't a perfect utopia of free love, and free bananas and free business class upgrades on Virgin Airlines and free phish concerts, is because of GEORGE W. BUSH.

I also told my dad that it's because of Bush that I don't have a job, and still live at home but he's such a crypto-facist hypocrite. I mean, the guy votes Republican, so what business does he have saying anything to me?

Well, gotta go. I'm gonna work on some new material so we can work in some anti-semetic slogans in iambic pentameter at the next rally. I hear Howard Zinn might be there!

Oh yeah, and from now on, my secret revolution name is Marcuse69.

    Later Comrade.

    Comrade? Hmm, Ruskie? Heh...nice.

By the way, this is NOT about Republicans or "the sky is falling" analysis. This is about characteristics of fascism. Plain and simple. This list shows that our current government has changed greatly after the neo-cons have taken over the administration.

Now, of course, if you think that we should just wait until it gets worse (like your "sky is falling post"). Ok, fine. You do that. But if most Americans think that this country is going in the wrong direction, then they will vote for change.

As the article states, "The first step is realizing it (characteristics). The second step is getting involved (make change)."

how selfish are we as a nation? it makes me sick. our lack of civic-mindededness nearly cancels out our freedom of choice.

Because that's what keeps politicians elected; getting money for their state/district or getting it for their campaigns. Or getting your elected official to use tax money to fund one's pet entitlement, social or corporate.

I remember after 9/11 reading (I think it was in Time) that Americans will be more conscious of their mortality and less about thier pocketbooks and ideologies in the voting booth. Wishful thinking.
