I wanted Quentin, but it appears Stone made the right move. Worst case scenario, when all is said and done, it's a push with both guys being long time starters. Needless to say, I'm rooting for QG, but it appears his upside is limited compared to Josh. Josh went from playing lousy at the combine to impacting Summer League. Now, he's quickly adjusted to the speed of the NBA and cleaned up his game....playing under control MOST of the time. Also, his shooting has been really good for a guy that can do so much. Continuing to work on cutting down turnovers and staying out of foul trouble should be top priorities. Along with honing that perennial All Defense potential.

I’ve been Jaygup from day one. Josh was a home run swing. Some of those other guys people were clamoring for that we drafted him over are singles and doubles. He’s not one dimensional and shows flashes of being able to pretty much do anything you need from a guard. Penetrate with both hands, finish at the basket, shoot with range, create for himself and others, be a primary ball handler, play off the ball, defend at a high level, rebound, and swing between multiple positions.

Going into the draft, Miles McBride, Jaden Springer, Bones Hyland, Jared Butler, Quentin Grimes, Sharife Cooper, Jason Preston, and Cam Thomas were 8 guards projected to go higher on several mocks I had looked at. He suffered from recency bias. Josh was actually considered to be a better prospect than probably all of those players going into the season and only played 15 games so I don’t think he had a chance to fully hit his stride and show that natural progression of improvement that “draft experts” wanted to see.

I knew this thread was giving me deja vue for some reason.

We had a similar one way back in August though. Had to search it.

Snippets from some of my takes back in August.

“I don’t think you draft Grimes if you believe in Armoni Brooks’s development (mostly defensively) Redundant skill sets offensively. Snipa is a legit bucket.”

“Grimes may be in the league for a very long time and make a lot of money, but what’s his ceiling? To me if he puts it all together and maximizes his potential he’s a 3 and D guy.”

“Jaygup just has more upside. Better handle, more explosive, better at getting to the rim, stronger body, more length, better passer. He could develop into a role as a secondary ball-handler and distributer. I don’t see that as something Grimes could do at this time. Now he isn’t the knockdown shooter Grimes has become though so Grimes has a clearer path to sticking in the NBA by just knocking down open 3 pointers and playing defense. If this was our Hardencentric veteran team, Grimes would be the pick, but not with this group. Go for the guy you think may have an outside chance of being more of an impact player. 3 and D guys are more easily attainable.”

Josh Christopher has got to be my favorite player on this team right now. He's a ball hound and I love a good ball hound.

It really feels like some on CF are just trying to find anyone to hate on. Sengun is good, Jalen is good, JC is good, Garuba is the only one left.

Garuba as a lost child (with a receding hairline) had 4 rebounds 1blk and 2 points in 5 minutes the last game he played not knowing how to walk in the nba.

That's like 30 rebounds, 7 blocks and 14 points per 36! I will take it!

I like JC but at the time 8 knew nothing about either one. I remember wanting them to draft Filip Petrusev.

When you put it this way, we may have drafted the modern day Bill Russell.

Not taking Qdot with one of those 2 picks in the back half of the first round was ridiculous, dude was in our backyard.
