You lost me with your lineup. You'd have Howard starting over Abdur-Rahim??

So let's throw away our trash and give it up to Portland. No way they would go for it...

SAR is a REALLY GOOD PERSON(nicest guy in the league).....

READ FIRST PEOPLE....Miles is playing the SF and Randolph is the PF....this guy is in his prime and its his contract year...he needs to make money next year...so he has to go to a good situation...

its a friggin buisness...and in his interest it will be best to leave....its not like he's Ricky Williams to the team....he's not the person the team will be dependant upon..

I would love for SAR to be on the Rockets...great character and great class.

In other news, critics charge George W. Bush with being ASAP from his National Guard service!

I can understand that Portland is looking for the right deal, but SAR is really submarining their efforts by going public and threatening to not play. Not that that's bad for him. It is in his interest to knock Portland's asking price as low as possible to make any trade for him easier. If he put on this show before Hassell was signed, do you think Portland would have just taken the deal to be rid of him?

In Atlanta, yes. Playing along side a legitimate center in Ratliff in the East, and a decent guard in Terry, that team should win more. He's Elton Brand lite. Not only that, this guy is not much better than Howard, you still have the same problems. Not enough bulk off the bench, either way, whoever starts. I would just rather keep MoTaylor and his contract and look for something else.

I would trade Howard if we got SAR. Get a PG and or a backup center and just sign a PF.

Even though he's not an athlete on KG or TD's level, SAR is much, much more athletic and quick-footed than Howard. I would love to have him. I don't think we have a shot at him though, and I don't know if the Rockets are willing to bring in such a high priced star for a one year rental. No way he gets a max contract extension.

It surprises me that this is going on. Shareef, from what I hear, is a really nice guy who wouldn't normally make waves.

I've always viewed SAR as a SF not a PF. To me he doesn't bang with the big bodies enough to warrant being a 4. Small forward should be your most versatile position, where the player can do everything well. If he has to go and get some rebounds, he can and can do it well. If he has to drain outside jumper, he can do it. If he has to play a post up game, he can do it, etc. Horry, Pippen, Fox and Elie were all these types of players who won championships. I think every championship team needs that type of player at the 3 and I think SAR is THAT player. I never understood why he has played the 4 at all, other than he was in the East and could get away with it.

That being said, I would love him on the Rockets for this reason alone.Always have. But, if he is not willing to play SF like it has been rumored, then I'm not so high on him.

I'd bring him in and put him at the 3 just to teach him a lesson. Actually, if we could get him cheap, I'd be on it -- that seems like a pretty freaking potent nucleus. I don't know much about SAR -- does he play defense?

I really don't think he's a SF. His handle is not good, and he doesn't have the lateral quickness to guard good perimeter players. He's no more a SF than Juwan Howard is, IMO.

SAR's bulked up a little bit. He's gone from 6'8", 220 when he first entered the NBA to 6'9", 245. He has some really smooth moves in the paint, and isn't a bad rebounder at all. His defense leaves a little to be desired, but it's no worse than Howard's, and he used to block shots and get steals. I'm willing to bet he'd start doing that again under JVG.

I'm not willing to bet that we'd be able to trade for him.

I think we should definitely go after SAR. He's just pissed because he knows he's a good player and he knows it will be just like last year and he won't get any playing time if he stays. The only way he will play is if they get rid of Miles, which means SAR will play 3, which is not his natural position.

I say we give up anyone except JJ, Yao, and TMac for him. He has always been a great PF and a good guy. He would be the perfect compliment to Yao because he rebounds, D's up, and plays physical.

The only reason his numbers weren't very good while he was with Portland was because he only played about 15 min/game, which is rediculous for a player of his caliber.

Get SAR. Then all we would need is a starting PG and a backup center.

The NJ deal made absolutely no sense for Portland. Lucious Harris and Kerry Kittles? They are already fully stocked with swingmen: Derek Anderson, D. Miles, Ruben Patterson, Quintel Woods, Trenton Hassel, and Richie Frahm. Not to mention that you can be assured that Damon and NVE will see time together on the court as well. Why do you need Lucious Harris and Kerry Kittles?

Portland's problem is that they are rather thin in the bigs department. Theo is an injury waiting to happen. Zach's got talent but does he give you sense of security? Would you be shocked if he came to training camp 30lbs overweight? Or get suspended for smoking one thing or another? The only other man is Vladimir Stepania who I've known personally while he was here: nice guy but I'll be shocked if he averages more than 5mpg. Giving up SAR for two shooting guards makes no sense.

SAR has always put up great numbers as the go to man on pretty bad teams. I like him. He is a poor man's E. Brand. He can defend, rebound and score. If he would buy into coming to Houston and playing the 3 and 4 spots off of the bench... he would really complement Yao... much like Howard will complement Yao with tough low post play and scoring.

Against smaller teams we could even throw out a lineup that would look like this to give Yao a break...

    Howard
    SAR
    JJ
    McGrady
    PG

He does not give the midrange offense of MO... but I think that he is better suited to what he need. A Howard/SAR combo would be the best PF combo this side of B. Miller and C. Webb.

Oh... and since Mo likes to smoke the happy weed... he would fit right in with Portland.

Well, we have 3 power forwards I'd be happy to give them.

You guys must be a bunch of Ricky Williams to think that Shareef would be a good fit for the Rockets!

This dude wants out of Portland after 1 year???
The Hawks are a better team without him, he stunk up as a Griz.

This is another case of 'ooooo weeeee, look at his stats!'

This dude isnt even a real Power Forward.
Juwan is better (or at least cheaper) than this dude. We need role players like Final Fantasy XII.

What a wuss whinning about Portland cause
    "SHAREEF DONT LIKE IT"

The Rockets don't need this Cat.bah!!
