Green, Jabari, KPJ, Sengun Tari is tough but his touch around the rim could possibly be the worst thing I’ve ever seen in the NBA. I’d almost keep Christopher over Tari. Christopher could be a nice bench piece
1-3 is Jalen Jabari and Sengun, not necessarily in that order. 4th spot is tough but I think it goes to Tari. Could be Tari KPJ KJM or Tyty, but I'll take Tari.
Tier 1: Green, Jabari, Sengun (All three have a good talent base and seem driven to be successful. Just need a real coach and a real org giving them some identity and direction.) Tier all by himself: KPJ (With a real coach and more maturity, he could be a piece. As a PG, no.) Tier 2: Tari (Positives well outweigh the negatives but he has some work to do.) Tier 3: Josh, KMJ (Coaching would help a great deal here. They will both be in the NBA for a bunch of years, either here or somewhere else. I'd like to see what they can do within a real system and with a coach who runs a meritocracy and can manage minutes.) Tier 4: Garuba, TyTy (Still some unknowns with potential. I'm not convinced Garuba is playing in the right position and I'm certain TyTy needs more of a chance.) That's only nine guys. I'm OK keeping all of them until a new coach has a chance to look at them and make some decisions. Ideally, you want all your draft picks to reach their potential on your team. If Silas is back next year, I don't really care who we roll out there. If you've been a follower of Houston sports since the late 1960s, you know the suck years are more common than the great years. I can wait until I'm in my 80s or 90s for the owner to sell to someone who won't let ego or failsons get in the way of building a solid basketball organization.
The salary cap is the reason we're eventually going to have to part with some of these guys; part of rebuilding is identifying which players are core pieces you're going to pay the big $$$ to, and which guys you can afford to lose. Still two more years before that becomes an issue, but it's going to happen. You know the RFA offer sheets for Green & Sengun are going to be massive. Not a decision we need to make yet though. Let the kids develop and we'll see where we're at after next season.
