He played great tonight on both ends except for few possessions against AD defensively. If you think he did a poor job defensively because AD had 40, then you either don't know ball or just boxscoring.
It's not Silas's system. Sengun can't shoot and can only score around the basketball. He'd struggle in any system until develops a outside shot
The unathletic part is true to a certain extent. The problem with that kind of thinking it is just one element in determining the outcome. Skill, iq are extremely important. Another weird thing with Sengun is although he is kind of unathletic, he is extremely elastic, can move, bend a lot compared to a center(even compared to the general nba player) and in different ways. this is such an unusual combination, together with the skill, iq, vision makes him very strong especially on offense.
And I've said it countless times. Essentially nothing is designed to help Sengun or green make any assists.
Segun is the future of this team. I hope he stays rocket for life. Do you see his numbers? Dude is beast. Next year will be amazing. He's only 20, and putting up amazing defense and offensive #'s. Get the right coach that run plays threw him watch out.
The thing is he can play good d but his wingspan and lack of vertical hurting him. At certain possesions he held his ground vs Davis but dude has 7'7 wingspan and shoots over him regardless. This league is honestly so good you are practically defenseless against certain players. No matter what you do they will score over you. I don't expect Alp to stop Embiid, healthy Davis or Jokic but do fine against other centers itl. I like that his hands are active and he's getting better at pnr defense. He'll get there but he HAS TO get stronger. At one possession in he post Davis literally rocked him with a little push. He went flying that shouldn't happen but he's 20 and he doesn't have grown man's body yet so i can't really blame the kid. He will not get taller probably but his bones will get thicker. I like that he tries, gives a **** though.
