...not a small forward. This is what I am taking from the summer leagues and Rudy T's actions and also the words of Eddie Griffin in the following article:

    http://www.foxsports.com/nba/home/nba_news.cfm?source=st&cont_id=67760

This article was origanally posted by jeff in the thread about Dream and Cleavland. In the collum there was a section on Eddie Griffin that discussed him almost exclusively as a Power Forward. Here are a couple of lines:

    ____________________________________________________________________________________
Going to a Rockets team that is certain to re-sign power forward Maurice Taylor, Griffin said he is ready to accept limited playing time. "If I don't play a lot I'm OK with that," he said. "I hope I play a lot, but I won't be disappointed if I don't. I've got a lot of developing to do. I'm still not fully developed physically, for one thing."

Tomjanovich's early impressions of rookie power forward/center Eddie Griffin:

"Just a multi-talented player who can do a lot of things," Tomjanovich said. "He can get on the floor, as a 19-year-old, because he can rebound and block shots now."
    ____________________________________________________________________________________

Did Rudy T really decide that he did not want to persue one of the premier power forwards in the league because he drafted the Rockets next star Small Forward? That just makes no sense. If Eddie was going to be the Rockets small forward then doesn't it make sense to try and suround him with someone like Webber? With all the small forwards already on this team such as Walt, Langhi and Anderson (sg/sf) if he is resigned why draft Morris? I'll tell you why, because Rudy never drafted Eddie to play Small Forward. I beleive Eddie will recieve the majority of his playing time at the 4 with the posibility of playing time at the 3 and 5. I believe TMo and Langhi are going to be givin the oppertunity to battle for the starting spot at the 3 over the next year or two.

I think Heypart...er...Crispee conceaded the name bet much too soon.

Guys who're 6'9 220 with a really lanky build do not make good PFs in the NBA. They make good SFs though.

Griffin can shoot from what I've seen so why start him at the 4?

Griffin will prolly end up playing three whne its all said and done. However, Mo Taylor will prolly guard SF's and Griffin will guard SHeed, KG, etc.

I think Eddie is a bit lanky to be a 4 (for now)....I went to several games and watched him play for Seton Hall in person and although he was a good shot blocker and rebounder, he even got pushed around in college.

Crash, you seem to be right on line with the following quote, it makes no sense otherwise. I have not read all posts since posting a short time ago, but this is the first time I have seen this rational which makes the only sense. If Eddie was going to be the Rockets small forward then doesn't it make sense to try and suround him with someone like Webber? With all the small forwards already on this team such as Walt, Langhi and Anderson (sg/sf) if he is resigned why draft Morris? He is a true PF but lacks the physical strength to play there right now night in and night out. He can play the 3 and then move to the 4 kinda like KG did in Minnesota...

    crash,

    sigh

There is no way Rudy will go public by Oct 31st saying Griffin is anything other than a two position player. Thus, I lose, since we currently have a starting PF.

Come on, what?! this bet was supposed to last for 3 yrs of Griffin development to see what he finally becomes.

Rockets Fact #1: Maurice Taylor will start as PF.

Rockets Fact #2: We have a Rudy Quote saying Griffin is versatile enough to play 2 positions like Shawn Marion.

I am honoring the bet until I see where Griffin plays. If he is mostly used at the 4, I am going to go back to my normal moniker.

Technically, the bet does not really take place until October 1st.

If you lose, you lose, but you don't win, and say you lose, that is just ...not right.

    Flutie,
How can you say Griffin can shoot from what you have seen? Im not saying that Griffin cannot shoot, but his performance thus far has been sub par. He shoots less than 35%. That is worse that Shandon Anderson. I think that as he becomes more comfortable, his percentage will go up, but as for now, he is only an inside player, and playing the 4 is the most reasonable position until he finds his stroke. Theo Ratliff is an inch taller and 5 pounds heavier than Griffin and he plays the 5 in the east. Therefore, Griffin could definitly play the 4 in the west.

    who cares DaDakota.

you are a reneger, plain and simple, and just making a mockery of a stupid, fun bet. Just go back to DaDakota now.

Because we don't care, we just want to have fun, and you're a whiner.

Position is dictated by skills/ability and not size/dimensions. Magic, Sir Charles, and Worm are good examples. Griffin will play the 4.

    also DaDakota,

Do you really think we can't all see that Griffin will play like a PF, and if he grows 2 more inches, may even become our center overtime

What? Only you can see that, because you predicted Fizer to be a superstar???

What you fail to see is we were just having fun with monikers. Just get out of the bet and stop using BahDakota.

I don't think that it would be a stretch to have him play SF at all. He has the quickness to defend and is bigger than most at that positon. For now, he is undersized (bulk wise) at the 4 but will probably get some time there.

There are guys who are just multi-position players and he's one of them. I could see Taylor and Griffin switching roles with Taylor playing some 3 and Griffin some 4 as well.

I think Eddie will start his career at the 3, with some minutes at the 4.

But eventually he settle in as a 4\3 combo F, a la SAR.

    Crispee,

I will refrain from calling you any names, as you have done to me.

You certainly can't take it when someone deliberatly winds you up, but yet, you don't have a problem doing it to others.

I guess having a bit of fun at someone's expense because they take themselves FAR to seriously is not appreciated by you, especially when it is you that are being made fun of....

The only real issue I had with you, until you started the name calling, was that I thought you conceded too early.

As for Griffin, I stand fast in my beliefs that he is going to be MORE of a 4, then a 3.

He may not have the body for it yet, but I think that is where he will make his mark in the NBA.

DaDakota - BahDakota....what the heck does it matter?

I will always know more about Hoops/Rockets then you...Forever !!!

So, Eddie is a PF. I am sure he will get lots of playing time in front of Mo and KT. [IMG]

If the Rox were planning on moving Griffin to PF in the future, then you have to wonder if Duncan would ever come here since he too plays PF. Can you imagine Duncan and Griffin on the same team? The Rockets would probably be dubbed the quiet storm! [IMG]
