Apologies if posted before. A fan ran onto the pitch waving a banner during a friendly between Benfica and Etoile Carouge in switzerland. Over-zealous guards caught up with him and one gave the fan a few baton jabs to the head. Then a fan wearing a Porto(!) shirt invaded the pitch to help his comrade and a few hundreds followed. Soccer fans are crazy. Did anyone hear about that soccer ref who shot a coach dead because he questioned one of his calls?
My favorite soccer story involves the great one, Pele. the Brazilian team were playing the Colombians in Colombia and the referee gave Pele the heave when he retaliated for a tough foul by the opposing team (Pele was always a marked man and was never one to back down, he was kicked out of several games for retaliating). This was in the first half and the crowd went nuts because they had come to see him play and not the referee. They were throwing things and becoming very violent, so the referee was asked to leave for his own safety and Pele was brought back to finish the game.
It wish soccer fans would act like soccer players during fights. if they get touched at all they should fall to the ground acting like they've been shot. A few seconds like they should realize no penalty as called and they can get back up and continue doing what ever it is that soccer fans do
Oh why do they insist on calling these matches 'friendlies'?? Soccer referee wanted for shooting coach, players
Because AMERICANS call their Championships "WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS" even when other countries don't compete.
Soccer fans are the most r****ded fans ever. It's a no brainer when you have thousand of guys drinking and cursing while watching the matchup. This sport kill more fans then any other sports that I've ever heard of. It's that brutal.
I'm glad they beat those cops. Don't get me wrong. I love police officers. Three of my cousins were police in the Air Force, and one of them joined the HPD when he got out of the Air Force. But that guy posed no threat to the officers. Batons to the head were completely unwarranted. I bet they felt like real big men, beating an unarmed fan. How big did they feel when hundreds of people were running at full speed to kick their asses? Those cops sure did run fast.
What? Cat got your tongue? Do a little research and before being an idiot. I can't really blame the cops. There are incidents where fans attack players and does stupid thing. Please don't tell me he isn't but who knows?
I am guessing portugese expats in switzerland, attending the match to boo the enemy? Anyway cantona would have approved of that flying kick.
