No they don't. The reality is that people see these events as rare with very low probability of happening to their loved ones. It's no different then the typical messaging that we hear after these events, how we are more likely to die in a car crash or some other form, than via a mass shooting event. It's tragic, but these individuals have become numb to these events since they just see it as another day where we can't guarantee the safety of everyone. At the end of the day, the bad guys will get their hands on guns, at least that's what we will be told in the next few weeks. We will need teachers to carry, we will need more security at schools, etc, the typical garbage you hear after these things happen. Too bad nothing really gets done. At least, it's usually limited in scope since most individuals don't have the balls to actually go after real legislation that would perhaps make an impact to reduce these sort of events. Considering the narrow majorities, it doesn't really matter now, does it?
The 2nd Amendment is fine if you go back to the days when it was implemented. You know when it took 1-2 minutes to load one round.
America must be the only country in the world that has side doors these people are such a joke…u can keep those useless thoughts and prayers 6 people killed at a Christian private school and you’re talking about prayer… man, stfu
It's not anger directed at you. It's just that what you say about it rings absolutely hollow since you support the people that support unrestricted guns just because they also don't like (publicly) drag queens and transgender kids. I'm sure you're aware that Florida is now working to pass permit-less concealed carry.
3 parents will not get to hug their children tonight. These parents will never be the same again. No amount of gun legislation or prayers will ever make these parents feel whole again. I wish we would honor these victims with actual action. No amount of prayers will fix this issue.
Your tweet was deleted, was it the fake meme about Samantha Hyde? Which famous person did you post? I know Dipshit Dsouza retweeted it.
Sadly, no. Most people don't recognize reality and instead think there is some high degree of probability that their child will be killed at school by a mass shooter. So much so that they try to take away people's constitutional rights over it, vote on that basis, make movies about it, etc. It is the minority that recognize that, while tragic, school shootings are quite rare and your children are very safe at school.
No you don't. Just get two more Supreme Court Justices who will reverse the Heller decision, and go back to the pre-2008 200 year judicial consensus that the 2nd amendment means what it says and only applies to a well regulated militia. If Roe can be overturned based solely on a personnel change, then Heller can be as well.
Phew! These families should feel better that their elementary child being blown apart is rare and just bad luck. Everyone can feel free to buy the biggest gun they can think of so they can shoot cans this weekend while their wife struts in an American flag bikini and they prepare to defend us against the commies and trannies! A fair trade!
The only thing that fixes this issue is the same one that fixes most of our hot button issues. Time. A lot of very stupid people have to pass on and younger people that aren’t infected with gun nuttery come into power. One day future generations are going to look back and say “wait they thought having more guns would lead to less gun deaths?!” and laugh hysterically at our dumbasses.
They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well here we are in an insane world repeating...which was the point of the completely accurate "glib meme". Right now, my thoughts are this: What difference does it make what I think? If I had the actual solutions, would it matter? I honestly don't believe you're interested in a meaningful dialogue. You probably think I'm not either. It seems to me that EVERYONE here shares 2 things in common. One, we want these shootings to end. Two, we're more interested in being right about the "solutions" to why this happens than in having productive dialogue to actually end these shootings. And until we're more invested in solving the problem together than in being right about how to solve it, this will continue.
I appreciate you making my point. Rare events means you guys don't care. It's okay to just say it. Just don't offer thoughts and prayers when you really don't mean it and are content with status quo. As far as I'm concerned, your constitutional right is fully in tact and is nowhere near being taken away. Sure, you'll have polls and politicians that support stricter gun reform, but they are only willing to go so far.
