wait why would the raptors let nick nurse go but if he was let go, i could harden winning a ring with nick nurse
Scariolo is a hell of a coach and deserves a chance in the NBA. He ideally needs a strong organization or a superstar that believes in him on board. I would support his hire on the Rockets but it wouldn’t be the best fit for him to succeed. Having him as an associate head coach with Nurse would be awesome.
The adultery and office romance isn’t the big issue with me. There were claims of sexual harassment in the work place which is a big concern. Infidelity isn’t really a big concern, being in a position of power and being romantically involved with the wife of his boss? Stupid ….. having claims of sexual harassment from female employees? Fairly big concern.
Im not too sure about the sexual harassment claims, but u figured there should b charges or something by now if tru. I still think its worth a risk, folks are fine w/ running a redemption arc to save kpj, a redemption story for an actual competent coach might turn this franchise around
The fact that the Celtics didn't skip a beat without Udoka doesn't give me a lot of confidence. Nurse has won a title, that's extremely valuable to me. Raptors fans have many complaints about Nurse though, so I don't know if those are legit or just like any team it's fans loving to pile things on a coach out of habit.
This team needs a leader of men more than anything. Any coach that has made it this far in their career knows basketball pretty well, even Silas. It don't mean s**t if you can't get players on the floor to do what they need to do. There's no accountability on this team for lazy or selfish basketball (except Sengun, who does occasionally get benched for lazy defense, the rest of the team not so much)
Give $80 mil to the guy that quit on you at halftime. (KPJ) Give $150 mil to the old guy that quit on you years ago. (Harden) Give the head coaching job to the guy that lost his job and family because he was too horny. (Udoka) Draft the kid that has been linked to a murder. (Miller) Rebuild Complete.
How many women are in the war room? Nurse is the long term hire, I don't view Udoka as someone within long term plans.
Stone doesn't deserve to be in a job if these guys are available and he chooses to stick with the worst head coach the league has ever seen.
I thought about this a little more today. I think the Rockets can save themselves a lot of headache by hiring a very experienced coach before using the FA money. The idea of Tilman, Patrick, Stone and Silas in a room talking about free agent strategy makes me nauseous. We endured 3 years of tanking and letting bad contracts expire. The most brutal tank job OF ALL TIME and I will debate anyone about it. When I say brutal, I mean what they did to the roster and how they distributed responsibilities. I really don't want Udoka. I don't want a person who can't get p***y without doing everything he did, and I also don't want a dude who is bad at relationships. Any psychologist will tell you that a person who can't maintain relationships outside of work certainly will suck at being a team leader. Strikes me as a brilliant tactical mind with 0 intangibles. We only have 1 year of data on him and that's the year he was ****ing around like he's 16 years old. I like these guys: - Nick Nurse: for his championship experience (one season) which would be great for the young players and also for attracting FA's. To be frank though, their youngsters haven't developed well in the time he has been there, which is strange cause he has a development background. - Kenny Atkinson: Did a tremendous job in BKN before Kyrie took a dump in it. Had nothing to build with, but still did well. Now an assistant under Kerr with the Warriors, who run a system that would suit Sengun, Green and Jabari A LOT. Also has championship experience (Warriors). - Chris Quinn: 9 years under Spo (nuff said). Has an NBA Finals run on his resume as assistant. That coaching staff is just amazing, I would pay anything to steal Spo and Wes Brown (athletic trainer). - Jordi Fernandez: ex-Spain, ex-Nuggets, current Kings lead assistant coach to Mike Brown. Kings suck at defense so we would have to get him a strong defensive assistant, but in terms of the offensive system they are running we can do with Sengun/Green what they are doing with Sabonis/Fox. Wish he had more Finals experience. - Charles Lee: lead assistant under Budenholzer in Milwaukee, teams have been trying to steal him for years. Championship experience and excellent coaching system over there. Would love to bring that culture here. Having the coach in place would go a long way in ensuring the front office doesn't piss the cap space away. Either hire a new HC now or do not commit the cap space to anyone beyond 1-2 year contracts till you find a HC who will tell you what we need to be top 10 defense and top 10 offense.
