He is not going anywhere this year. If we move Gordon he might stay longer. It really just depends on how he plays out this year. His contract isn't amazing but its not an albatross either.
I cant imagine they brought him in to squeeze a few more wins out of this season. Mentor? Leader? Or just filling the 14th spot?
I like this. He knows how good Alpi is. We would instantly be better just by cutting KPJ and letting DJ mentor TyTy.
TJ Ford is from Baytown. I was so bummed when his health never really allowed him to do his thing in the NBA. I was hoping to see an Eastside kid do big things in the league. Still cool he made it though.
Guess they want to get a head start on having the crew play with a real PG. Probably thought it was risky to bring him in earlier and potentially ruin the chance at Wemby.
Serviceable backup that can provide a good veteran presence on the floor and locker room. Glad he’s back.
I thought DJ played best with Alpi last year. He's not fast enough to get by people, but his shot is reliable. He comes off DHOs with Alpi well and finds him in good spots. He's going to help TyTy a lot I think because TyTy has a pretty similar game to a younger DJ just with a bit more size and a bit less speed. All in all, I hope this just helps keep Nix off the floor. The timing is perfect though. If he accidentally gets us an extra win or two by keeping the bench unit afloat, we've already locked ourselves into a bottom 3 record. Love this.
He was born in Houston and played at Willowridge (went to school with my ex wife). Maybe he was raised in Baytown, but it's the first I heard of it and I've been knowing him since high school.
