Note, in my last few posts I addressed: - Armstrong's character as a bully and mobber instead of graceful champion - The issue of doping in this sport in general Before esse and others start whining again - I did not repeat specific accusations against Armstrong. As I said, I will wait with that until the evidence will be out.
Ahhh, listening to the Star Spangled Banner being played on the Champs Elysees as a Texan has just become the greatest champion of France's most prized sporting event. Priceless.
You have no idea how ludicrous you sound, SJC. This obsession with Armstrong is not attractive at all. If Ullrich had suddenly, somehow, pulled off a win in this tour, the silence from you regarding Jan possibly doping would be deafening. Sheryl Crow gives a thumbs-up to a crowd at the side of the podium after Lance Armstrong received the yellow jersey on Saturday. You rock, Lance. Texas is proud of you.
All riders are on roid. Dirtiest sport ever. Don't tell me they are not using something on the toughest sport.
Congratulations to fellow Austinite: Champion Cyclist and World Class Philanthropist (raising many millions for cancer patients).
I answered the question whether I think Jan could possibly be doped as well - I said I could not rule it out. Some of you guys need to face the truth. I understand it is easier to root for someone who is from the same state or even from the same city and believing what one wants to believe than thinking rationally and listening to the voices of reason (e.g., Lemond and Andy Hampsten, two great AMERICAN riders from the past), but everything that happens in cycling should have a huge asterisk next to it.
How gracious of you. You're convinced Lance is doping. A German who finished what, about 61 seconds behind Lance last year, after 2000 miles ... maybe, just maybe, is doping also.
The truth that you're unable to provide? The truth that every drug test he's ever taken hasn't been able to provide? I think jealously and excuse making may be clouding a lot of people's vision.
Since positive tests have not been released (yet), here is an article from a news source you generally seem to trust for your reading pleasure. Patriotism and excuse making (for dopers) may be clouding a lot of people's vision. http://foxsports.news.com.au/story/0,8659,10244909-23210,00.html Doctor reveals doping approach From correspondents in New York July 25, 2004 FORMER US Postal doctor Prentice Steffen, who left the team before Lance Armstrong's arrival, has claimed he was sacked because he refused to prescribe doping products. Armstrong, who is set to clinch a record-setting sixth Tour de France title in Paris tonight, joined the US Postal team in 1997 after Steffen's departure. But Steffen claims that his dismissal was a result of the shifting attitude towards doping in the sport, and a push towards better performances. He said that when he was with US Postal "the team was small at that time with little ambition, everyone was clean". But he said that one day two riders approached him to asked him if he could give them illicit substances. "It was just those two. But I was under the impression they were speaking on behalf of the whole team. From that moment on, I knew that the entire mentality had shifted over," Steffen told AFP. "It was out of the question to be a part of this (doping). When I refused, I was fired a few months later. "To reach a higher level the leaders were convinced that only doping would allow the team to get good results."
This is some bad writing even by current journalistic standards... By starting the third paragraph with "But," the writer creates a relationship between the previous two paragraphs that is not there.
oooh wow he can pedal reel fast. what a athlete pleaze i can jerk off fast maybe that should be sport ill tell you whose a real athlete christian pfiefer world moto stunt champeen. and bowlers. a bowler could beat up lance armweak therefore he is a superior athlete. ha i could beat up lance i rule\ IF YA SMELL-la-lalalala what THE ROCK is cookn
If that's the case (could well be ) why your venom for Lance? Why not just dismiss the sport entirely? You and JBJ could start up your own thread on those uber-athletes - the pro-bowlers!
