I think that's kind of okay? He's a transitional guy if he comes here, he helps us be more competitive while we continue to develop the core players for what we hope will be the future Rockets championship team. I don't think you even necessarily want him to play the kind of minutes he used to because it eats too much into the development of our prospects. 30, 32 minutes of Harden is still massive for this team, though. The kind of looks these young guys would get with that would be huge for them.

No the rockets don’t need him to be playing so many minutes and it’s not wise to do so anyway. I would keep his minutes to 30 minutes a night .

You are giving it too much thought.

Only 1 team out of 30 could win a title every year.

I doubt Stone and Ferntits could put it together.

1-2 WCF appearances with this group like it was under Leslie and Morey would be great.

    And that is questionable.

DO NOT sign Harden back. This is not what the team needs. Harden will only get worse.

Exactly hunh? You really want to use that word ??

If the Rockets really need to get some better vets sign Reaves from the Lakers or Van Vleet. Then use the clippers pick and Nets assets with a few young players to trade for the best player you can get. Bridges or whomever is comparable.

That is exactly what you need for this team. Not an aging Harden that will precipitously drop in quality as a player. Next year he will be worse than this season. And that will be the best he will be in that contract and get worse every year after.

    Van Vleet/ TyTy
    Green/Kpj or Christopher
    Bridges/Brandon Miller
    Jabari/Eason
    Sengun/Garuba

There is no damn way that Harden is going to bring you a championship next season. So maybe they are a bit better with him next season though that is debatable. I can promise you they won’t have an anchor on the payroll in 2025-2027.

why in the world would FVV do anything. He can't even lead his raptors to a winning record and look at their roster. certainly shouldn't be a team under .500. their team is pathetic and theyre in the east. lets overpay FVV for a minimal player. Pass. Now suddenly the rockets will be that team to overpay someone like Reaves to lead a rockets team. nothing more than a role player. Pass

Those options flat out stink. Like I said before, this board made fun of teams giving out overpaid deals for lesser players for a long time. Now the rockets are that team they wanted to make fun of in these scenarios like this one. a lot of you are literally backwards on what its going to take to track upwards for this franchise

Harden is not gonna dramtically drop off bc his playstyle is always changing. What's the point of describing his playstyle one that age well if folks think it's gonna drop right as he hit 35

Well I personally hope it doesn’t occur. Maybe Scoot Henderson can stop it from happening. Then get another quality vet that be getting paid 50 mil at the age of ancient gods.

Folks still play ball at the age of 37-38. We need a pg and he's one of the best playmaker. It's not like he becomes blind at 36 and forgets how to pass the ball.

if it doesn't occur, it'll likely mean the rockets have a bad offseason

It's funny how this board complains about KPJ's "inefficiency," and yet wants to sign FVV, a guy who has a worse TS% than KPJ.

An overpaid overweight vet? Yep . That will teach the young guys how to win, lol, not picking on you, it's that you and about 80percent of clutchfans is living in 2018 still. It's over, he's washed and when vets start getting injuries like this it is the warning sign his career is near over. They just dont recover once past 33ish from injuries, he will be an albatross contract almost immediately and we would be stuck with him for atleast 4 yrs approaching 38 and no team would take him off our backs

You can't buy your way to a championship by signing old aging vets just doesn't work that way ever

If you want them to "learn" then they need a freaking coach that actually can instill these concepts instead of a bench player barking at the young guys, and that is what harden will be , a bench player making 50 million a yr just for old times sake

Man , yall are going to learn the hard way (no pun intended)

Good post. But stone doesn't have common sense like you. What they will do is sign harden to play pg. Move kpj to sf,, they will never trade for bridges. Kpj and stone are like brothers, he isn't going anywhere, and there's no way he will accept a bench role, even for bridges, so kpj is our new sf and Harden is coming because he is now injury prone now and Morey knows it and 76ers aren't stupid enough to resign him like we are

oh we're going to learn the hard way. coming from someone who had this hot take not so long ago

When we're on the opposite side of takes like this, I know were on the right side

what you clearly don't understand is that you're still talking about championship. That in no way is anyone's reason to sign Harden. That's been said over and over and over. Yet folks like you are still bringing it up. This championship or bust logic is non existent. There's literally no such thing for the rockets.

You need to learn how to walk before you run. That's why most of you were never ready for a full rebuild and never understood the process. And most of you still dont

Nor would he help with our defensive issues, he's clearly the weak link in that aspect in Toronto. FVV's role is already huge so there's little room to expand his game on a new team like Jalen Brunson did. I like FVV as a player, but not at all as a max free agent target. Harden is better now and I'd guess he'll still be better than FVV over the next four years.

FVV is what comes to mind when I think of what Harden's washed up years might look like LOL.

It's not just about declining, which is a real possibility. Asides from that, the older you get, the more you are prone to injuries and the longer it takes to recover. If you sign him for a 4-year max deal, you are pretty much looking at getting him to play at a high level for about 2 seasons, if you are lucky.
