ClutchFans Game Thread: Warriors @ Rockets 3/20/2023

As far as I see it, Alpi is not a great defender but he is being scapegoated at times for a lot of the team's defensive failings. The entire team needs to grow on that end, though Tari and Jabari are two good defensive pieces to start with and Jalen has been playing way harder as of late.

When our guards can defend better, it'll make things easier for our bigs--and Sengun is getting better and better on that end. I think being thrown into the fire and chaos for a season and a half has been helpful in some ways.

 

Alpi is not even an average defender, he's straight up bad as of now. I never said he's good or average but it's amusing when some agenda-driven dudes blame all of the Rockets' defensive breakdowns on him.

There isn't a single player who is above average defensively on this Rockets roster. Both Tari and Jabari have all the tools to be great defenders and they're doing good job defending 1 on 1 but they are lacking the fundamentals of team defense. They need time and they need proper coaching to be positive defenders.

 

Listening to Thompson reminded me of one of those Italian westerns for some reason, where the English is dubbed and whatever the dude is saying sounds a little off. He seemed bored and I can’t say I could blame him.

When he was asked about this Rockets team, he seemed to wake up a bit then. Thompson compared them to the veteran teams of the past, to paraphrase, “when they had James and CP, with veterans scattered through the roster and nearly took us out.” Then he tossed the paper airplane he’d been making out of the stats sheet at the reporters and split. We could have used a guy like him back then, a heck of an understatement.

They knew they could just throw the ball away and they'd make it up when they need to.

Of course our two best players were out

 

I'm curious what percent is legit and what percent is " I want that free agent money next year "

How many stars that are locked up have said something about houston ? I feel like it's all been guys that are going to be FA lol .

But hey , maybe there's some **** going on we don't know

The biggest takeaway from listening to him is he says this team needs vets more than anything.

 

Draymond wants to play for Coach Silas next year.

Not sure I agree on Garuba. Nix on the other hand...

 

Instead of shouting "four rings" like he does to the Grizzlies, Klay just says "8 road wins, 8!" to us.

 

Not even surprised as we all knew it from October. I'm done with the NBA after this
