I think his ceiling is a bit underrated personally. Let me just throw some names out there, not as direct comps, but as guys who were never among the top 2 scoring or playmaking options for their teams and had career averages under 15ppg, but were still absolutely essential for their teams to win championships and whose contributions would have been incredibly difficult for their teams to replace. Dennis Rodman Draymond Green Lamar Odom Rasheed Wallace There's sort of an archetype of player who is an "all-star glue guy" and usually plays one of the forward positions, gets a lot of rebounds, sets great picks, plays great defense, and contributes offensively off the ball so that your lead scorers can do their thing without getting smothered. That's the sort of player I see Jarace Walker as. He has that kind of motor, basketball IQ, and the size, strength, and dexterity to really be a bully out there. No, you're not going to win a championship if he's your best player; but I do think a player like Walker can fill the role of the "third star", or perhaps even be your second-best player on a really deep team with a really good lead guy.
Haven't been as impressed with him compared to the hype, but he can be a solid NBA player. He currently benefits a lot from his size and I don't see him getting those same benefits in the NBA. With that being said, if he can defend multiple positions, shoot the three, and hit that little floater while doing all the little winning things he can stay in meaningful NBA rotations. I've only seen like parts of 3 games of him so far so maybe I'm missing something.
well that says enough lol sadly this is probably better than a lot of others though. Those who probably watch random youtube highlight vids and then act like they've followed these prospects enough to know what they're talking about
I am interested in what makes the Rockets the best overall team when Jalen Green and Jabari Smith are 27 and 26 years old. Would a 26 year old Jarace Walker be the guy to help them now and until then to get there? Or is it some other random guy they could trade for?? Could a player that is comparable to that be signed as a free agent say next off season? I don't know.
Yup just adding that disclaimer because there's no way to give a proper evaluation off of a few combined halves of basketball. My opinion is very prelim and at the end of the day doesn't matter
try to catch Jarace this weekend if you get a chance. Anyone who likes watching winning high iq basketball will be very intrigued. He's without a doubt an elite prospect. He continues to show what he can do on both ends of the floor and this is just the start of it.
Walker might as well, he's already a jack-of-all-trades on offense and some of those skills are going to develop since he's only 19. Thing is though, the line has moved for what defines a star scorer, so it doesn't necessarily make him a #1/#2 offensive option even if he scores 20, 21 points a game. Gotta be a bit better than that in today's game. Still love the guy and would be glad if the Rockets end up with him. Not as happy as if we get Wemby, of course, but yeah.
Since it's bumped: really wanted this dude but didn't happen. Good for Indy. No chance he won't have a great career.
He looks good. I guess the ultimate question, would you rather have Amen or Jabari? It's a legit question.
