To be fair to Will Wagner, the guys the Braves have been calling up have had much more serious pedigrees (or talent, if you want to be blunt) than he does.
In the US youth participation continues to increase for soccer and gradually decreases for baseball. But ok
I don't know if that's the case with Vaughn Grissom. He was their 17th ranked prospect going into 2021. Not very highly regarded in the draft process. He eventually turned into a higher profile prospect before being called up. Younger with more upside than Wagner perhaps. I'd just as soon let Wagner have a look than go and sign Jonathan Villar or have to trade for some has been and give up actual prospects.
Baseball participation was steadily on the rise prior to the pandemic. We will see what long lasting effect the pandemic had as more time passes, but baseball participation among youth in the US increased in the millions the five years prior.
Sure. You have always been a dumbass. Now your bad Karma cost the Astros Altuve. Bet you wish it was Dusty.
They had a ton of luck/good fortune last year with avoiding any significant injuries to any of the key players. Things will regress some this year but that’s what the depth is for. LMJ is probably the only guy I have doubts about this season… mainly because he likely has an injury that ultimately will require surgery, and he’s going to compensate to avoid it (while being a lesser pitcher as as result).
This. For whatever reason, a lot of the title contenders are getting tested on their depth early this year. The Astros, the Yankees, the Dodgers, etc... I'd bet there's gonna more parity in win totals this year. Probably fewer 102+ win teams as the last few years.
That was going to likely happen anyways with the more balanced schedule. Also it’s still cold to start the season in most cities… not the worst thing to avoid playing in this type of weather.
