I read clutcfans very carefully. That is the reason I ignore some lesser posters to focus on the good ones. Anyone delivering hard earned facts&figures is sacred for me. I read them, get enlightened and appreciate them even I don't agree most of the times. But some of the posters here just parroting each other, bringing nothing more than their cheap opinions and toxicate the medium with their biased approaches. You get picky when you get older. The life is not that long. It is not tolerance issue, it is a kind of hedonism or as I mentioned before it is a kind of Hegelian philosophy: "you want to reach to similar minds". I follow Frank (Rockets Chop Shop) but neglect the views of Ben DuBose, not because Ben D. is a bad person but he is not there yet. If Ben progress little bit I might follow him in 5 years time. I am grateful if you are able to read/analyze/follow every poster but I am not that young anymore. Less is more.
To me, Jabari has been average on the perimeter and slightly above average inside. He isnt l as amazing shot blocker but he is a deterrent with his length. He probably ends up a good shot blocker. His biggest attribute has been defensive rebounding IMO. If we dont get VW, Im all about a Smith and Sengun center rotation.
you asked for stats. I provided them. You moved the goal posts. my foundation is as solid as yours. I watch the games. The stats back up what I see. They don’t back up what you see so you disregard them. I didn’t say anything about his offense. Overall he has been Mr Invisible most of the season AND he’s been outplayed by Eason. it’s clear this discussion is going no where. I hope Jabari lives up to his potential. Nice chat.
SOF nightmare: Rockets fire Silas, who gets hired by Wizards as an assistant. Rockets trade Sengun to Wizards for #13 pick.
I think the fact he is average on the perimeter and above average inside is his biggest attribute. That means he is already guarding most players in the league decently.
LOL this is an awesome humor! Btw I am sure to whomever or whoever rockets trade Sengun to, it will be under a condition or clause that they never allow him to fully break out...
I know getting Wenbanyama is a long shot, but the idea of having Wenbanyama and Jabari playing PF and C interchangeably is incredibly appealing. Two guys who can space the floor, block shots, get boards and play switchable defense? Sign me up, please. I love Sengun, but I'd be looking at what we could get for him in that case.
With his touch I expect Sengun to develop a three point shot and then he will be an offensive monster.
Majority of the Rockets fans have the memory of an average goldfish and they evaluate players and make long-term plans based on the last 2 games the Rockets played. It's truly hilarious and it amuses me. Jabari Smith JR was a total scrub 10 days ago and now he's a future Hall of Famer. Sengun was the franchise player few weeks ago and now he's 3rd string center. Gotta love it.
In my defense, I have always maintained since the beginning that recent performances were what Bari was capable of from the start. I have also maintained I have serious concerns about Sengun becoming a star and that he along with everyone else are not currently franchise players. I do still maintain that if I had to choose which players to build around, it would be him, Green, and Bari and that if I had to pick a single player that has consistently shown they deserve a shot to be a franchise player, it would be Sengun.
Basketball should a little bit more flexible in the position to those who could play it. Sound hypocritical since this could apply to kpj being a pg, except he actual blows at it. Meanwhile Smith has shown he could play center depending on match up, it would b foolish not to utilized that flexibility. Sengun is a big Boi who knows how to play for the team, I don't think he would mind. I don't think Smith should b a full time center though, its just refreshing to see actual big man want to play center rather than avoid it like c. Wood, and Davis
Ideally a Front Court that's interchangeable... Sengun Wemby Bari With an interchangeable 2nd unit... Usman Tari KJ
I'm not a Rockets fan and i joined the forum mainly to see how the Rockets fans view Sengun. So i'm a SOF as you guys say. But i think i can evaluate 1 or 2 things better than the Rockets fans because my emotions are not involved in the process. From what i see, the Rockets fans are in a big rush to be good again and desperate to find the hero who'll bring back the sunny days which is understandable since you're tired of all this tanking and losing stuff for years. I totally agree with your post. None of these players didn't prove anything to be "HIM" yet. They have lots of potential and talent but their work ethics and dedication to the game will determine who'll end up being better. In the case of Sengun, it depends on how you define stardom. If you think Sabonis is a star, then i believe Sengun will be a star in the future, but if your definiton of stardom only contains guys like Jokic i don't think he'll get there.
My definition of "star" is a player that can single handily elevate his team to playoff status. This doesn't necessarily mean make the playoffs, but rather the ability to deliver sufficient offensive power for the team by themselves to elevate his team to that level via scoring or passing. Sengun definitely has that potential, but IMO his very average physical traits serve as a huge wall before him. To overcome this, he needs to either develop reliable range to really open the possibilities of his offensive gravity OR become absolutely elite from the post where he consistently dominates single coverage. Can he do it? I certainly wouldn't count him out, but I am not betting on it either.
