I’m overweight and my weight can fluctuate 5 lbs up or down in a week. It could be all kinds of things like when was the weighing, has he been inactive because of injury or sickness. No way I’m scared off by this weight gain. His character issues could cause him to drop substantially and already have. I really think the Texans are going to trade back from 12 and go OL or TE later in the round since Carter will almost certainly be gone by then. I think Tunsil is on his way out and they are either going to have to spend a ton on Orlando Brown or they have fallen in love with an OL in the draft.
Russell Wilson was also older. Bryce can fill in with good muscle over the next few years. He has much longer arms than Kyler Murray so while he does have a thin frame, he can certainly bulk up with lean muscle.

It’s not just the weight gain. Factoring in weight gain, with skipping skilled drills, involvement in a deadly reckless driving incident, and reports of general Immaturity and lacking work ethic, it doesn’t look good. Clowney had less red flags and he never lived up to his potential either. Money doesn’t make a generally lazy person work any harder.
Right, the most important interview of your life and you come in heavier and noncommittal to the things scouts want to see.
Except that Jalen Carter isn’t just some overweight dude posting on Clutchfans. And as posted before, it’s the weight gain on top of electing not to test. He is doing some drills so doesn’t sound like sickness/injury is an issue.
I also drink a little bit and occasionally wake up hungover, bit I wouldn't do that on the day of a morning interview for a huge promotion at work.
So is 323 overweight for a DT? Maybe he intentionally put it on. I think the interviews, medicals, and game play tape are much more important. They need to determine whether he has a mental issue or if he has a history of laziness. If he does not he is premier prospect at DT. In fact, before the incident he was being referred to as a generational type talent. These 9 lbs won’t drop him to 12.
That's a toughie! Vick did change the game but in the end wasn't a good enough passer to win big in the playoffs consistently. So I'd say no. And it's the same way with Richardson. You're betting on SIGNIFICANT improvement as a passer. He's like a lotto ticket for the MEGA MEGA Millions (or whatever the biggest payoff one is called). I think there's signs he WILL improve but will it be enough to win a 'chip? There's the gamble.
Not necessarily but that’s NT weight. For comparison, Aaron Donald, Jeffrey Simmons, Quinnen Williams all weigh at or under 300lbs. But don’t forget the 9 lbs gain is just from the past 2 weeks. If you go off his reported weight from the season, it’s 20+ lbs.
I’m no nutrition expert, but I’m guessing many 300+ players gain weight in the off-season and start to drop it back off when the off-season workouts and pre-season happen. I don’t know if it’s a concern or not but unlike a lot on this board I trust Casserio and Ryans on player evaluation. Maybe you’re right and 9 lbs in 2 weeks is a concern to them too, but I doubt it unless the ascribe it to laziness.
At this point I don’t think I would take him at 12 if I was Caserio/ Demeco. Some people are just lost causes.
Wow what a ******* idiot. Despite the rumors of maturity issues was still in play for # 1 pick. Then between the racing incident and poor conditioning there’s no telling how far he could slide.
It's not the rate of gain or the actual weight that's the problem, it's the fact that he's in the midst of the biggest job interview of his life, and he's not putting on the best appearance. It's definitely a red flag especially when coupled with the car incident
