I thjnk Smith figures it out. He plays hard on both sides of the court and has improved as a ball handler. I think he’s an absolute stud in a couple years.
I was wondering when the hell they were going to start running plays for him. We went a lot of Green's rookie season without plays too and it was tough but it did improve his off ball game. With Jabari even if no plays are run for him, he should be making more of his open 3's. They should definitely reward his defensive effort and development with some plays. Help him bring that efficiency up.
Funny is that all those 'experts' were proclaiming a college shooter to be a 'great shooter' before he even stepped foot on an actual NBA court and now are finding it to be 'weird' he didn't make shots . Darn simpletons.
or or hes out of league in couple of years...ill cut him some slack because silas is his coach and he plays for the houston tanking basketball clowns
"But he's making 30.8 of his unguarded catch-and-shoot 3s, per Synergy. That's 137th out of 140 players with at least 75 such attempts." I really aint trying to hear sh*t about what someone else isn't doing for him. Simply make your WIDE OPEN shots and you'd be solid for a rookie campaign homie.
There's truth to the "you perform how you practice" cliche but at the same time you cannot replicate game experience in practice. So, if Silas isn't running plays for Jabari in games logic would dictate they're not practicing it much, if at all. If all that is true then our coaching staff is doing very little do develop this kid and it's showing. While that's a total disservice in itself, admitting it is way worse. Silas may not have said a lot in that quote but to me it speaks volumes.
The Rockets and Silas' "Young Player Development Plan" includes no play calls and forcing player to find their own way. Ground breaking and good to know!
Smith could've easily had 30+ last night if we'd run just a handful of plays for him in the second half.
or even if KPJ as the PG would get him the ball when he is cooking. KPJ had like 3 easy assists to bari then never went back to him again.
He doesn't run any plays at all. He just lets the head bozo dribble the air out of the ball and waste possesions

it's hard to run plays for Bari. He's not quick and if it's not someone he can shoot over, he doesn't have any moves to gain separation. Really needs to work on a jab-step fall-away.
There is something in the basketball called screen that's specifically designed to help create separation for players. Teams run it a lot, both on and off the ball, for their shooters. Why we don't... hell if I know!
