Yeah this doesn’t seem smart unless they are comfortable with Howard at LT and Heck at RT. I guess they could draft a tackle at 12.
Jimmy G to the Raiders...we are saved https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/03/13/jimmy-garoppolo-to-sign-with-raiders/
I've been thinking (and worrying) about this ever since I knew what our offensive scheme would be. Surprised no one else thought of it. Let's look at Tunsil's game and past history. He's ELITE at pass blocking (average at run bl) but you have to look at what he actually does. If you watch he's out of his stance quicker than most any LT around and he'll usually push his man outside and past the rush lane. But after that he usually stops moving. ONLY if the play goes on an extended amount of time will he re- engage his man or look for "more work". In other words he's the best there is for those first 2 seconds and after that he's pretty much done for the play. Also remember back when we had trouble getting him to play or even practice unless really motivated. I'm not saying he's lazy, just energy(effort) efficient! LoL NOW look at how much work you have to put in with a zone/ cut blocking scheme. That'll take 5 times the energy as before and he'll be on the ground A LOT! I'm wondering if he didn't just tell the team "I'm out" on the zone blocking. I hope not because we'll NEVER get equivalent value for him. Take the Chiefs rumor. If it's a team picking at 30 that's like a high 2nd rounder! I'd need 2 of those PLUS from the Chiefs and there's no way they could pay that much. The media would take them over the coals! I hope I'm wrong and we sign LT to a good deal and he happily protects Bryce Young's blindside till he retires but I've been worrying about this ever since I knew we'd run a zone scheme.
If Keenum is now going to be signed, what does this mean for Davis Mills? Is he relegated to third on the depth chart behind Rookie QB1 and Keenum? Traded? Released? I just assumed he'd be the backup behind whatever QB gets drafted, but now with Case that should change things.
