There were definitely more than 2 bad throws. He has some of the same issues as Anthony Richardson, his off-platform throws are unbelievably bad. He throws off his back foot, with nothing but upper body a lot. Especially when he gets a little bit of pressure. On designed QB runs, he looks good, definitely has the size and skills for those sets of play calls. But overall, he plays like he's still in high school (I'm the best guy on the field, and I just need to "get it up there" for my guy to have a shot)
His off platform throws are a strength of his by every scout. There was definitely not more than 2-3 bad throws or decisions anyway. There was one high throw, the throw to the end zone that got picked. There were more drops than bad throws. Unless you count throwing the ball away as a bad throw ( I don’t) To your last part. Stroud throws more 50/50 balls than anyone, but because he has elite receivers it’s ok? That’s what you do, give your guys a shot.
People are going to see what they want to see in Levis In 2021 he was very good. In 2022 he wasn't a 1st rd pick. IMHO I'm thinking if a coaching staff can get ahold of him and correct his throws I believe they were to the right, he can be the best QB in this draft. Part of the problem was playing with turf toe, which is very painful and a banged up throwing shoulder contributed to this. The other thing to worry about with Levis is, is he gun shy from the beating he took last year. Throwing off your back foot is a bad sign. Great risk, great reward with Levis and I think he's a much better prospect than Richardson because his flaws are fairly easily fixable compared to Richardson's flaws.
1. His off-platform throws are not a strength of every scout. The few scouting reports I've read (Lance Z, USA Today, Draft Network) all mention his poor, inconsistent footwork as a negative. 2. I'm not going to go through the entire tape and mark off every bad throw just to prove my point, his team scored 6 points at home. He had 1 receiver (Barion Brown) with 10 catches for 145 yards. So it's not like they couldn't make plays. They had playmakers.... they just didn't get it done. 3. I definitely believe he had more bad throws than drops 4. There's such a thing as accurate 50/50 balls, and Levis just doesn't do it. He throws the ball up there and doesn't put his receivers in the best position to make plays. (not just my opinion)
1-Footwork and off platform throws are not the same thing. Off platform throws is the ability to make throws from bad footwork. That’s a positive in todays game. Bryce does this as well. 2-This shows your bias, Brown is not a top tier talent. And they don’t have many outside of him. 3-No, he didn’t. 4-On some plays yes, on others he throws to where only his receiver can get the ball. He has special arm talent. Bottom line is he is physically superior to Stroud in every way. With far more upside. And that tape is majority a positive.
Agree, just rewatched the tape to make sure I wasn't smoking crack when I watched it the first time. To add to your comments, he fitted the ball into some really tight windows and made some really nice throws under duress. BTW, the pick was by Kelee Ringo, likely a 1st or 2nd rd pick and Levis made the tackle. He's not a perfect prospect, but done of these 4 are. I'll be excited about BY, AR or Will, just don't want CJ.
With that second 3rd round pick I would take AT Perry. Liked his speed and height. Just needs to cut down on the drops. Great blocker.
Yeah, that's the biggest revelation for me as a Texans fan with this trade... it wasn't us. I felt happy knowing that we didn't do something stupid like trade good capital for a one-slot move. Now that its Carolina, I think you just have to sit tight and take who drops to you. But the Texans need to know (and probably already do) what their top-3 order is between Anderson, Bryce, and Stroud. Once they figure that out, just let Carolina take whoever, and take #2 and move on.
EXACTLY what I'm saying in my other thread. Takes two to tango and this move is so obvious a three year old can see it coming.
