This serious concern? "I have no particular sympathy for Chansley, but I do have concerns for the system that sentenced him."

Turley is concerned for the system where the Shaman's lawyer has access to all the video through discovery, lol. He's as bad as TC.

    https://www.politico.com/amp/news/2021/07/09/doj-database-capitol-riot-prosecutions-498911

The Justice Department has agreed to pay $6.1 million to a technology contractor to create a massive database of videos, photographs, documents and social media posts related to the Capitol riot as part of the process of turning relevant evidence over to defense attorneys for the more than 500 people facing criminal charges in the Jan. 6 events, according to a court filing and government records.

Prosecutors are trying to organize thousands of hours of body-worn camera footage, closed-circuit surveillance camera footage, more than a million social media videos, data from phones and email accounts, and the responses to more than 6,000 grand jury subpoenas, according to a court filing Thursday.

“The government is working to provide an unprecedented amount of materials in the most comprehensive and usable format to defense counsel,” Moore and Dreher said.

Did the “QAnon Shaman” Get Shafted on Sentencing? New Footage Raises Questions Over the Chansley Case

    https://jonathanturley.org/2023/03/...ce-raises-new-questions-on-the-chansley-case/

    excerpt:

This is not just material that the public should be able to see, it was potential evidence in criminal cases like that of the QAnon Shaman.

When the footage aired, I wrote a column raising the question of whether this evidence was known to or shared with Chansley’s defense. After all, he was portrayed as a violent offender by the Justice Department at his sentencing.

It now appears that the answer is no. I spoke with Chansley’s new counsel, Bill Shipley, and confirmed that defense counsel did not have this material.

In the hearing, federal prosecutor Kimberly Paschall played videos showing Chansley yelling along with the crowd and insisted “that is not peaceful.”

That portrayal of Chansley would have been more difficult to maintain if the Court was allowed to see images of Chansley casually walking through a door of the Capitol with hundreds of other protesters and then being escorted by officers through the Capitol. At no point is he violent and at no point is he shown destroying evidence. Instead, he dutifully follows the officers who facilitate his going eventually to the unoccupied Senate floor.

We all knew that Chansley was treated more harshly because of his visibility. It was his costume, not his conduct, that seemed to drive the sentencing. In the hearing, Judge Royce Lamberth noted, “He made himself the image of the riot, didn’t he? For good or bad, he made himself the very image of this whole event.”

The problem with this shaman is that he invested very few ability points on Wisdom and instead dumped it all on strength.

    Rolled the wrong class.

How deep are you up in the brown Fox News hole when you assume people know who you're talking about when you say Tucker?

I misread the title and thought it said Trucker.

No. One had a stroke the next day. Four committed suicide some time later. 4 people died at the Capitol January 6th, all rioters. Ashli Babbit was shot in the neck. There was a woman who was trampled. There were two men who died of heart attacks. These Are the People Who Died in Connection With the Capitol Riot - The New York Times (nytimes.com) The headline might be a bit misleading, because I don't know that you can draw a direct line to most of these deaths. A drug overdose, a stroke, a heart attack, or a suicide is not exactly easy to tie to a riot.

That’s still a lot of dead people for such a peaceful protest / sightseeing tour.

And you’re making my point that with any large event you can selectively present it.

Again with any large event, really any event, there is going to be a lot of material that is benign or doesn’t really matter. For example if someone committed a murder but there was footage of him following him the day leading up to the murder you could find a lot of innocuous footage of him doing stuff like eating and going to the bathroom. That doesn’t downplay that a
Murder was committed and any video footage relevant would be of the murder.

Also I understand the conditions that form riots in communities that experience long form abuse from authority.

But just can't Garner up sympathy for a bunch of small business owners and comfortably well off people storming the capitol because their fascist leader still wants power after losing an election.

    There's that element also.

Can we also point out the wealth discoriencies and conditions of both groups and their grevincies?

I think America has to have a long talk about how large aspect of Civil Rights activism was violent. People ACTUALLY oppressed and have significantly worse economic conditions are going to more likely do things like riot.

A well off class of people rioting, it's something else. That is an entirely different motivation that is far more unsettling.
