That's funny, all of my teams are from out of state. I live in California and root for the Rockets, Yankees, and Buccaneers.

Maybe. But that was the original name the DALLAS franchise had...

Then they became the KC Chiefs... oh, the irony (cowboys and indians).

Eddie George will revive, and the problem is that he will help train Julius Jones (rookie RB) to the way of NFL life that = success.

This bodes well for the future of the 'Boys more than the short term.

And I for one, don't think it matters. When the 'Boys got Parcells as coach, that sealed the return to greatness...

As much as I dislike it.

Yeah, I'm from Sacramento, and my favorite teams are the Rockets, Kings, Cowboys, and Ravens. Rockets because they had Dexler and Olajuwon, Kings because they're local, Cowboys because my cousin got me into them when I was young, Ravens because family friends of my Mom's who are from Baltimore got me into them. I probably would like the "local" NFL team, the 49ers, if my cousin hadn't got to me first... everyone knows all Dallas fans automatically hate the 49ers. :) So yeah, I like teams in other cities, but the Rockets was the only time I meant to do it per se.

Speaking of the actual topic at hand... not sure how I feel about it. I suppose he'll be a solid back, and I LOVE power backs, but I think Eddie may be over the hill a little bit, and this is a young Cowboys team. I might just as soon have let Julius knock himself out and spend that money on a better second cornerback. All in all I'd say I'm with you guys in wishing that he had remained a Titan until the end.

While it is good to see a good back see the light and join up with America's team, I feel I need to point out that his talent can not begin to compare to Emmitt Smith's talent.

What is the point of Eddie George anymore? He's had more slams thrown into him than Jenna Jameson. If he were a thoroughbread he would be at the glue factory by now. He's done. Even with a dominant QB like McNair and an underrated offensive line George has been dismal for several years. If you Cowscrub fans think he will give you anything then you are even more delusional than I thought. You just got rid of the God of over-the-hill running backs in Emmit Smith- why do you want a slower, less-elusive version in George?

I don't know about the others, but I'm not really expecting all that much from Eddie as far as production goes. I just see him as a 10-15 carry a game back who can pound the ball in there. Seeing as how he had less YPC than Troy Hambrick, I wouldn't be too thrilled with him getting 25-30 carries. But if they was a 3rd and 2 or something similar, it would be nice to have him, especially since most of the other backs except maybe Richie Anderson aren't even his size.

However, even if he stinks it up on the field, he does add many things off the field to the team that could help out the younger players. Since it is only a 1 year contract, after this year, we can stick to JJ and find another RB elsewhere to take EG place, or if he performs well, we may be able to bring him back. (hopefully, another contract situation wouldn't occur).

Season before last he wasn't that bad. His average yards per carry was down a little but he had 12 rushing TDs and came up maybe 100-150 or so yards less than some of his years when he was prime. How's that washed up exactly? Everyone knows he played through injury last season. If he can stay healthy this season, then he could easily beat out last season's numbers.

Let's put it this way...Parcells is not going to cut Eddie any breaks and won't be afraid to rotate with other running backs more should Eddie suck.

BMoney, the running backs on the Cowboys before George had a combined 326 yards NFL running yardage/experience. It's obvious George can help the Cowboys as has been said with his experience teaching the younger running backs. If he doesn't perform, then he will not play as much.

This is a healthy gamble for the Cowboys. It's not like we signed him to a multi-year contract. It's one year.

Also, if anyone can draw a strong performance out of someone, then it's going to be "The Tuna".

Watching Eddie leave the titans was a great day for an anti titans person like myself who spends most the year in nashville

I was born and raised a Cowboys fan, My Dad took us to watch Eddie Lebaron in the Cotton Bowl (in the snow). I consider Jerry Jones a scourge that has been temporarily foisted uponMY team. Sorta like the Vietnamese hunkering down for 100 years to outlast any occupying power.

I am also a Texans fan in every other match-up in the NFL. I have no choice but to root for the Cowboys but I really like everything about the Texans and reveere Bob McNair like Clint Murchison Jr.

All that being said, I'm glad Eddie will play one year with the Cowboys but I don't think he will prove to be a big part of their success this year. I think Julius Jones will play and Eddie is the insurance policy. That's not really the 'Big Tuna Way', he has historically passed over the rookies, but he has said as much that he is in a building process for the Cowboys and not nescessarily in the "win now" mode. Jones was drafted for his quickness and speed; Eddie George doesn't have those any more.

I kind of figured this would happen. His play in NFL Europe hurt, but with his injury, it was almost a given, IMO, that he would be the odd man out.

Yes the Cowboys are blessed with an overabundance of mediocre quarterbacks. I read Parcells really likes Tony Romo but Jerry Facelift is always looking for a glamorboy to replace Saint Troy. Someone to glorify his ego. Urkel was supposed to since Jerry and Jerry alone could see his superior skills, but it ain't working out too good.

    1. The cowgirls get stuck with 3.7 yards per carry Eddie(3.3 last year).

    2. One less reason for these Texans' fans in denial to root for the titans.

    3. I hate the cowgirls and sort of dislike the titans, so as a Texans fan, I benefit.

I must admit I miss the days when Alvin Harper was claiming he was better than Jerry Rice and Barry Switzer was packing heat in airports while Erik Williams was knifing strippers.

I think we all knew Hutchinson would be the odd man out. I don't think he and Tuna ever were on the best of terms to begin with. Plus, Tuna just didn't believe Hutchinson had enough experience. So, I guess Hutch went to play some ball in Europe but had only mixed success and hardly anything to write home about. A few good games here and there but also making the same mistakes he is known for(blindside hits, fumbles, etc.).

The funny thing about the Hutch exit is his exit interview with the press where he threatened that he would make the Cowboys sorry. All I have to say to that is...."BRING IT ON!"...cause you haven't done squat to prove yourself in any fashion whatsoever thus far. Are you going to start really trying now or something? I hope you do turn into this miraculous qb and make us pay. Somehow, I don't think that sent shivers down the spines of Cowboys coaches and management. LOL.

Maybe you Texans or Titans can pick him up and make him your star qb? Haha.

    Cowboys update:

Parcells has stopped short of naming rookie Julius Jones his
starting running back, but did admit Thursday veteran Eddie George would not be carrying a heavy load. "Eddie will be in the mix," Parcells said. "He'll get some carries, but it's not what he's used to getting." Parcells said Jones will get what he can handle, but that number hasn't been established yet.

Looks like its that dreaded RBBC in Dallas.

Poor Eddie, he could have signed with Miami.

I read that yesterday and wasn't really surprised. When I read about the Cowboys getting George, I was thinking more along the lines of getting a back to use in special situations, but not the starter, or at least not the "main" back. I don't know if I was the only one thinking that or if it was pretty much thought throughout all the fans of the Cowboys. I was a little surprised to see everyone pencil him in as the starter opening day. As time went by, I thought he could do ok, and maybe/probably start, but I still felt as though they would basically go with the RBBC.

I don't know if it is necessarily a bad thing to do that though. EG should hopefully be able to get the short yardage that JJ and crew can't because of his size, while the rest could really do good at making some breakaway runs, not exactly EG's strong suit, although I did like that 20+ yd run in the last preseason game. Yeah, I would love to have one HB who could get the short yardage and make some people miss, but this such a big improvement over last year's HBs. Aveion Cason seemed like a big piece of that unit, but now I don't even think he'll make the team.

Another good thing about this is that JJ and hopefully Reshard Lee, if he makes the team which I hope he will, will get some playing time to improve themselves in some good situations while not having to shoulder the load as younger players. EG can also not have to worry about doing so much as well and can also help the other guys learn.

The only strange thing is Richie Anderson. I've been hoping the Reshard makes the team, so I'd like him to be 3rd RB or whatever. I know they've been wanting to use RA as a RB moreso than a FB, but with the seemingly improved core of RBs, maybe he can go back at FB. Seems like we went from having no ok RBs to having too many, although I guess some of them still have to prove themselves the rest of the way until that can really be absolutely true.
