I get that. While diagnosed with ADD back when they treated it with tranquilizers(~1968ish), I adapted rather than expecting the world to adapt to me.
They have won the sports market share battle since 1980. The NBA has taken a lot of it's cues from WWE. Drama sells. Climax sells which is why they want fast close games where superstars do superstar things at the end.
Watching some Spring ball has me a bit more relaxed about the Verlander exit. It will be interesting to see how older pitchers who waved off a lot calls and/or caught their breath between pitches adapt.

I enjoy seeing his blank, unchanging face on the picture they put up on MLB Gameday because it's just like watching the real thing.
