On top of that, at some point they're going to have to package and trade or even cut some of the guys they aren't in love with. We can't keep taking 3 new guys a year indefinitely and keep them all. They just need to figure out who they think fits best with their franchise player, Josh Christopher, and keep those guys.
The pick dropped today from the 19th pick to the 18th pick. If they lose tomorrow and Dallas wins it will move to the 17th. Starting to get fun.
It's going to be maniacal as we head down the stretch with teams 6-22 in draft position within about 6 games of one another. Then you have to watch out for how OKC does, how the Clippers do, etc. in the lottery (assuming they're all in it). Lots of nailbiting incoming.
Jazz and Pelicans are both only 1.5 games back. Very conceivable they could fall into the lottery. Their game @ New Orleans on April 1st could be a very interesting one to watch for Rockets fans.
We are all rooting for Russ to continue being Russ. Hopefully they keep that going, very important to where this pick lands.
He means use the clippers pick and other assets to move up and draft him and whomever else in the top 5. That would likely involve moving a lot of players though because if you are adding two more highly drafted rookies you need to get rid of a lot of remaining youth to somehow be competitive.
Big day for the Clips pick. A banged up Warriors team, with a great home record, hosting WestBrick et al. A loss sees the Clippers join Utah, New Orleans and Minnesota with 32 losses (the bottom 3 play-in teams). A Dallas loss (against Philly) sees them join that list of 32 losses, and keeps the Clippers in 6th (just). A Dallas win (makes Harden mad) and drops the Clippers into the play-in zone with just 17 games remaining
So like one of the only things I’ll give Stone credit for (other than Sengun) is that this side bet Clippers pick thing is fun.
sorry, I think he mismanaged the player part of that trade. I really think the Sengun trade was Stone’s finest hour. Not so much on Jarret Allen and Olidipo.
It's swings and roundabouts to me. Clearly the direction of the trade was 'lose bad and max out draft potential until 2024'. Could have sat with LaVert, Allen and Prince plus the BKN picks. It would have then fallen to see what we could have traded those guys for. The flipside is that we probably don't get Green in that scenario. And we definitely don't have JC or this Clips pick. Possibly could have turned the 3 players into future assets though. Stone prioritised the picks and 23 cap space. Let's see how it turns out next season when we are trying to win. For now, Dallas stepping up today!!
Dallas is bringing it tonight. Keep the pedal down boys. H-Town clapping for you (but just for tonight)
Last year, the picks 29 and 22 were traded for the pick 19. Bucks pick is 30 now. Clipps trade either 17 or 19 depending on tonight’s game. That means that the Gordon trade was worth more then receiving the 22nd pick in return. And people complained…
