Anyone knowing something about the level of Overtime Elite where the Thompsons play?

What's the temperature on KAT in the GARM? I believe he's going to be very available this offseason.

I'd be interested in the right deal and fully realize Towns won't be the best player on a contender. You'd be getting a player under contract for 5 more seasons or the rest of their prime who will be able to space the floor and hit 3s at a high clip. On the flip side, his contract ain't cheap either for a center who rebounds decently but plays bad defense. Also, he's been getting injured a lot.

Feels like he's destined to someone a little further long in the competitive part of their sports cycle, but I'm sure the Rockets will consider it. Does this feel like an overpay or underpay or about right?

    Jabari + KPJ + Tate + 2023 FRP (clippers) + 2 SRP for Towns

Trading Jabari might sting as I'm just not sure what to make of him but it's definitely early giving up on him for a questionable star level player. Jabari definitely has the personality of a hard nose player, but that doesn't mean he'll be as impactful as KAT who is the opposite. I think if we gamble by sending Jabari then we don't have to send out several FRPs. I'm not sure I'd do the trade I proposed but I'd think about it pretty hard....

I know I should be patient, but as I look at all of the talent on okc and all of the picks they have ahead of them, we are no where close and unlikely to dig out of our hole anytime soon. The more I watch guys like Mobley and Giddy, I just don’t see Jalen developing nearly as well. Jabari just looks so much worse than guys like Paolo and Mathurin. There’s a chance that Stone got our last 2 high draft picks wrong. I know they’ll get better, but they just don’t look as good to me as some of these other young prospects.

I feel ya. The Rockets young players are so far behind other young teams it’s depressing.

I don't think Scoot is great as people said.

I’m not even high on Towns, but this trade offer is miles away from the market rate in the NBA today. Towns is 27, locked up through 2028, and was All-NBA last year.

Any trade for him involves at least 4 unprotected picks / swaps + meaningful young prospects. Look at the Donovan Mitchell trade for example. So add 3 more firsts to your package.

    I would pass.

OKC looks to be way ahead of us in terms of where they are as a franchise, and that's even without Chet Holmgren. It is kind of depressing. You can only hope that things look better for us next year, because right now it's all pretty grim.

We need to sign VanVleet as our point guard, a guard with assists and limited turnovers. Also, I would sign Kyle Kuzma from Washington, I would over pay him for 30 million a year, and I would offer VanVleet 30 millions a year. These free agents are not coming to Houston if you do not:

    1. Overpay
    2. Hire a popular coach
    3. Pray for Wemby

    VanVleet
    Green
    Tari or Jabari
    Kuzma
    Sengun

Assuming we don’t get Wemby or Scoot.

Realistically, signing any of the big FA’s is unlikely, since lots of teams have space, their teams want to re-sign them, and our organization has a stink on it right now.

We’d have to overpay by a a huge amount, which I don’t think Stone will want to do. I don’t think he’s going to bet his job on giving VanVleet $40M/yr.

Only realistic guy I see happening is Cam Johnson for 4 years/120, since our overpay would hurt Brooklyn.

Using the rest of our cap space via trade feels likely. We can take bad or neutral money veterans who are gettable, and who are actually useful NBA players, and who expire in the next couple years, giving us flexibility. Guys like Tobias Harris, Gary Harris, TJ McConnell. I’d also target Jonathan Isaac as a potentially undervalued 4/5 (injuries + he’s a weirdo) with the defense to cover for Sengun without hurting us on offense.

    23/24 rotation would look like:

    KPJ
    Green
    McConnell
    [Top 5 pick]
    Johnson
    Harris
    Tari
    Jabari
    Sengun
    Isaac

That team wins 35ish games, is a much better environment for development of our young guys with veteran presence, keeps our stash of Brooklyn picks, and most importantly preserves ~50 million in space for the next summer, when there’s a much better FA class and we’re not the laughingstock of the league anymore.

Scoots shooting at the G League level makes me very weary. Do not want.

Just had the same thought. KAT would be an interesting target if we decide to go all-in next year, eg by signing Harden.

Baseline of a trade package similar to your suggestion. Jabari and KPJ for salary match, Tate as salary filler and a selection of picks (likely Min asks for all 4 Nets picks/swaps).

Say we get lucky and draft Wemby, we could then sign Grant Williams in FA and end up with Harden, Green, Williams, Wemby, KAT. Plus Sengun and the remainder of our picks (eg Clippers 2023) to make another trade if need be. Not something I would personally do, but would put us back into contention for a year or two.

Actually hate to be the bearer of bad news but I'm going on record that no matter what happens in the draft, it doesn't matter if we get #1 or 2 or 3 or lower we are going to blow it, we will also blow our cap space on possibly an injury prone aging Harden or another aging vet(think Daniel theis) and so no matter who we draft or sign we will blow it, just a a gut feeling, I have no faith in stone. I bet we keep silas which is a huge mistake and even if we fire him we will blow it on who we hire,

Basically we can get the #1 pick all the cap space in the world and we will blow it. Call it a curse call it short sightedness call it stupidity whatever you want, but I just think stone, patrick, and Tillman are all over their heads. If we get wemby , the curse will hit him and he'll get injured then leave for LA immediately when his rookie contract is up. No point even drafting him since he wants to be a spur or laker, the entire media is on record telling wemby going to the rockets would be the worst scenario for him, we are doomed,

Once you have the national media against you, you're cursed. The agents and players listen to this talk and no one wants to come here, except harden , but I don't want harden, maybe 10 yrs ago yes,
