You never know. The FO was going downfall ever since Tilman bought the team. Yes I know. Ariza isn't worth 15M. But you are one game away from the final and you replace one of your best perimeter defender with bunches of minimum contract.

 

His value is far higher than his contract will be for the next 6 or so years. I can see teams wanting him, but the return on him will be less then his current value. Making trading him counterproductive.

You may have something there in your post. However, that fad among front offices and coaches has not led them to any championships. The Warriors have dominated the past decade and are still poised to win another ring and their coach is a disciple of Phil Jackson and Pop who emphasize post-play and ball movement in their offense. They do have three-point shooters who are among the best ever but even they get their shots from the flow of the game. Milwaukee has won by relying on their center anchoring the flow of their offense. Fads may be cool and sexy but they do not replace fundamental basketball. By the way, the inside-out style of play with a center in the post and three point shooters around the perimeter was not a Morey invention. I would attribute that style to Rudy T who maximized the talent and skill of Dream around the paint while surrounding him with relatively good three point shooters. Morey also did not invent analytics since the Bulls' Jerry Krause produced reams of statistical data that Phil Jackson just ignored. The point is that doing things because of fads does not result in basketball championships.
