Boban would drop 50. If we are talking about the regular rotation tho then yes it would be embarrassingly close

Your assumption that I don’t keep up with the Coogs is wrong. I love them even more than the Rockets. The greatness of Sampson against the dreadfulness of Silas is the only thing that would give the Coogs a chance.

Outside of Walker, Sasser and Francis, who will even make the league? The reason you think the Coogs would win is based on their system, not talent.

talent doesn't win games. An actual team/system does. like i said the rockets lack a long list of what a team actually is and that will easily be exposed. We're not talking about a list of nba vets who are proven. Were talking about a ton of unproven 19/20 year olds aka a college team who just happen to wear a rockets jersey

Spread would have to get into the 30s before I begun to consider UH.

They are not unproven at the college level. Smith was a beast at Auburn, Eason a matchup nightmare at LSU. As someone alluded to, a guy like Boban would get a layup or foul every half court set against a bunch of 6’ 8” college bigs. The overall talent level is just on different planes.

The future pros on the Coogs are an inconsistent but super talented freshman, an undersized combo guard, and foul prone defensive big. I love the Coogs but talent will overwhelm a superior system more times than not.

Boban is another Tacko Fall. Acting like he could get whatever he wants at anytime just isn't true. UH saw Tacko already. how did that work out for him and his team. Eason was far from some nightmare at LSU. he just plays hard. and we know he isn't that guy to lead a team as LSU was terrible

Of course they're unproven. They were drafted on what they could do years down the road. Not what they are now. They are as of right now unproven players

no talent does not overwhelm a superior system. The game isn't won on paper. This is like saying a team chalk full of 5 stars because they're "talented" walks through the ncaa and always wins. Guess what, that's far from the truth and doesn't happen. Why? because talent doesn't win games

This is an interesting intellectual exercise and I applaud your steadfastness in defense of the Coogs, but you’re simply wrong in your belief that talent wouldn’t overwhelm the advantages of Sampson’s superior system.

We have a loss to Temple for goodness sake ;)

I'm not wrong. This current rockets team is a sheer embarassment. I'll take Kelvin Sampson and a complete team with all the boxes checked of what you want in a winning team over this trash any day. You're simplistic "talent" is just going to win is grade school logic. The rockets product isn't indicative of what a pro sports team should be.

The team with 0 identity from top to bottom isn't having some field day vs this UH team.

since you're going that route, The rockets have 13 wins going to March for goodness sake ;)

Rockets would prevail but it would be embarrassingly close.

Kelvin's teams have displayed a cohesiveness that our squad has lacked since JH left.

We will have to agree to disagree, grade school logic is taught for a reason, the most obvious answer is usually right. Vastly superior talent will most always win.

It's so hysterically sad that this is even a legit question. Please powers that be give us a new coach AND gm so we can possibly climb out of this hole that has become a laughing stock around the league.

I always laugh when people ask this question about football, where the worst NFL team would obviously beat the best college team by at least 50 points. But it's a much less ridiculous question for basketball, I think, especially with a team as young and bad as the rockets are this year. I still think the rockets would win but I don't think it would be a joke of a game.

this doesn't apply here. this is a perfect example of why thinking putting a collective team of higher rated stars doesn't win. We see that time and time again in college basketball. Folks who think names on a paper win the game have no idea how to build an actual team

Rockets have way more talent but Sampson would coach circles around Silas.

The Rockets have been a joke and Sampson is one of the best coaches in college basketball, but Rockets would win by a healthy margin.

Rockets would destroy the Coogs. The only players on the Coogs who will be in the NBA next year are Sasser who will be a back end of the rotation guard and Jarace who will be a really raw rookie.

If Jalen, Eason, Jabari, Jaygup, KJ, and Alpi were in college right now they’d all be conference POY/all American type players.

As noted, Boban could score literally every possession.

Sampson >>>> Silas but that’s not enough.

I have seen many DISCIPLINE TEAMS beat UNDISCIPLINED TEAMS, no matter what the talent leave is. Especially one that plays defense as good as the Cougars.
