The Atlanta and Houston trade could work. Trade KPJ, Martin, Tate and BROOKLYN picks. KPJ and Dejounte Murray are best friends and from the same area. KPJ is not a point guard but a shooting guard. Murray and KPJ would be a nice back court and Martin would be a great 6th Man for them. I would sweeten the pot and throw the Clippers pick as well.
“?” is right. Until he can make layups, I wouldn’t call him an offensive player. Though it actually is pretty offensive.
You may be right about Green not being as good as Young .... But I don't think that's the question. You have to ask yourself if you can win it all with Young making max money, eating up 30-35% of your cap space going forward. Most teams can only afford two of these contracts, so Trae is either your best or second best player. I don't think he's that guy, he's a volume scorer who's not efficient and doesn't make those around him any better and to top it off is a terrible defender. Why replace one chucker who doesn't play defense with another, more expensive chucker who doesn't play defense?? I'd rather preserve my assets and cap space for a player who I do believe in than hitch my wagon to the wrong guy.
Please stop with the "win it all" standard which is invariably always somebody's moving goalposts. Here's the standard the Rockets - the most win deficient team in the league for 3 straight seasons that is even more painful to watch now as the "young core" fails to thrive - should use. Can this guy help them win, at all? Adoption of this standard will be a marked improvement and is far less constrained than the artificial and far more speculative "win it all" standard.
trey's hair looks like he's sick and about to lose it all. but would trade him for anyone on our roster.
Y’all crack me up. Last year nobody wanted to cash in the BKN picks on Mitchell or Murray like CLE and ATL did. Now this year Young and likely LaVine will be available for a similar picks package and y’all going to turn up your noses again? 1) The only players that come available via trade are flawed in some way. Morant, Tatum, Giannis, etc. are not going to be traded. 2) The guy you trade for is a Robin. Mitchell, Murray, Young, and LaVine aren’t leading a team to a ring. But they are needed second stars. The wagon we are hitched to, the guys that make or break our chances are the drafted guys. Unless Green, Jabari, Sengun or this upcoming pick becomes a top 5 guy it doesn’t matter who else we sign or trade for. If Green becomes Kobe or Sengun becomes Jokic or we get Wemby then Young next to them with his 10 assists per game and 38% from 3 last year will look great.
You have to walk before you run. We aren’t going from the worst team in the league to contenders over night. We have to build a competitive team first then make moves to to win it all. Trae Young would be a high end number 2. He’s been to the ECF as a number 1. Imagine landing Wemby then trading for Trae Young. A lineup with Trae (FA SG) Tari Jabari Wemby would have enough length to cover Trae defensively. I’ll take the chucker that also gives you 10 assists per game over the chucker that can barely get the ball past halfcourt.
And look who went first. Nate. and they're trying to get quinn in as quickly as possible. I still don't believe a fresh $215 super max is possible coming here. This post still applies
I'd much rather go after Murray and Collins than Trae. We know Collins is available, but I'd bet Murray would be too. I also think the Hawks would rather try and make Trae work out.
I'd do Jalen Green, KPJ, the Clips pick and one Nets pick for Trae -- but only if we don't get either Harden or Henderson. If we get either of them, I wouldn't be interested in Trae. I know it is a lot to give up, but Trae is a much better player than Jalen, and is already at the highest ceiling you could expect Green to get to. Getting the best player in a big trade is worth it. This would be like the modern version of the Francis and Mobley for TMac trade. Then we sign Bruce Brown in free agency to go with Trae, and we'll be looking good.
