Do you actually believe there's a possibility that Wemby and/or Harden will be a Rocket next year?

there is a nonzero probability of Wemby landing here. I'd say there is a zero probability of Harden returning to this dumpster fire. Folks who think otherwise about Harden are hilarious

 

I'd say there's about a 14% chance of Wemby being here next year.

Huh? Based on what? If the Rockets get the No. 1 pick, they're probably drafting Wemby. It's not a likely scenario, but it's definitely a possibility. What actual facts/logic are you basing your "0%" take on beyond "the lottery is rigged?"

Not surprisingly but no one is talking about what adding Harden means to our cap and to our decisions on extensions to our players.

If Harden is going to cost us say $50-60m for the next 4 years, it means we will have to make decisions on our players as to whether to give them max money when they may not have earned it, and if we don't someone else will.

Adding Harden is a massive risk and has a chance of blowing up the entire 3 year + rebuild with his cap hold.

As far as my opinion on the matter .... haven't got a clue! Media dishes out what they want to dish out regardless of its factual or not! If either Wemby or Harden are on our teamn next year...AWESOME!! If not, oh well, we'll go to war with the players we have!! My only hope is that this tank ends soon and that the players we have regardless of age or experience aren't as bad as our record indicates!!

Believing its likely and believing there is a possibility are entirely different things.

Is there a chance? Yes
Is there a greater than 1% likelihood? No

 

Rockets are likely spending all their cap space either this offseason or next. As such, Harden would make no difference at all on the decisions of extensions to the Rockets players. The only thing signing Harden impacts is whether the Rockets go with him, trade for guys to make it to salary cap, or sign other free agents.

 

Don't know about Harden, but I do believe we have just as high a chance of getting either Wemby or Scoot as any of the other bottom feeding teams.

 

I think there's a 0% chance we acquire Harden.

Strong feeling we will land Wemby. We have the best odds at the moment.

 

Dont get your hopes about Wemby. Spurs are tanking hard and the NBA will find a way to help them. If not Spurs, they are probably going to give it to the Hornets.

 

The first thing you said is right. There's a huge difference between believing it's likely and believing there's a possibility. But I don't get what you're saying about a greater than 1% likelihood. We literally know the answer to this question. The math has been done. It's highly unlikely the Rockets draft Wemby, but there's something like a 14% chance, because no one's going to pass him up if they get the top pick.

 

Yes it would the cap space they need to sign others would be eaten up by a $60m contract to a declining player in Harden.

You can't have 5 max players so you have to decide to let a couple of them go, and let's say you let Jabari go because at 22 he is just not what you wanted to see....but another team takes a shot and at 24, he is a star - you let go too early.

That is the kind of decision you are forced into with a large bloated end of career former all star player on the books.

Unless you think Tillman will just ignore the Luxury tax and pay it.....BWHAHAHAHAHAHAH
