I like Damon Jones over James. He is 2 yrs. younger with more experience, better shooting percentages and better assist-to-to ratio. Sounds like a no brainer to me. But James is fine also.

Sign the right type of contract with one of these guys and they will either be a free agent or can be easily moved in a year or two.

    my top 3 pg list
    1) Antonio Daniels - ideal fit for the rockets plus an expiring contract
    2) Mateen Cleaves - provide 2 of 3 things rockets need (ballhandling and defense). downside is no jump-shot but will sign for a minimum contract
    3) Lindsey Hunter - ditto as cleaves but provides veteran leadership but will cost more.

    NO DAMON JONES
    NO MIKE JAMES

Damon viz-a-viz Mike should sign a shorter, cheaper contract. Damon gets my vote.

    Neither is a bad choice.

I'm starting to lean more towards Mike James because he's a tougher player that brings more defense.

Evan, thanks for the breakdown. It is scary how close these guys are in terms of statistics. You could practically flip a coin.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Jones has 6 years of experience and is 27 yeras old versus James' 3 years and 29 years of age. Plus Jones is 6'3" versus James 6'2".

But in reality, I think either one would be solid. I could see the Rockets picking one of these guys, then next year when Lue's contract is up one of these guys turns into our backup and we go after a better 'starting' caliber PG. I think ideally either one of these guys is a solid backup in the long run. But this year I think we could get by with them starting since we arent contending yet.

For equal contracts I would take Damon. Younger and taller and probably better at shifting over to the 2 if we want to go small with shooters.

But I'd be fine with either honestly.

Damon Jones' D is so bad, he'll make Kenny the Jet look like the old Gary Payton. We'll all have to start practicing that soccer chant: "ole, ole, ole, ole, ..."

I am sure that we can do better.
