I somewhat agree. He's maybe too smart for his own good, he just needs to keep it simple. His frame is also super lanky, I remember he lost like 70+ pounds his senior year of highschool and I feel like he needs some more lower body strength to keep from blowing out his arm. He needs to gain some good weight and be like 215lbs. His mechanics also look like it's all arm. They look completely different from highschool . But what do I know. In any case, hopefully his arm strength is built back up after TJ. His breaking stuff was still on point from a short IG clip of him vs YouTuber Eric Sim
If you listen to the whole interview it’s pretty apparent he wasn’t talking about for this season. Or at least not coming out of ST. Gilbert isn’t even a ST invite. Not to say he couldn’t get called up this season, but I think that tweet is a little misleading. I think it’s more likely that Brown is referring to Gilbert being the CF of the future as a general statement, not as an immediate thing. Regardless, it’s exciting to know that Brown feels strongly about Gilbert.
Moving McCullers to the bullpen is the most obvious move of all-time. Don’t understand why this hasn’t been incorporated.
This is confusing. The text in the tweet makes it sound like he has a chance at winning the CF job out of spring training. The actual clip they posted does NOT match the text in the tweet and to me sounds more like Brown believes Gilbert is good enough to maybe come up and play CF at some point this season (maybe September). Those are two very, very different things.
The person that tweeted that quote is misleading what Dana Brown said for clicks. He never actually said that.
Hilarious, DeGrom is already injured. I don't get the infatuation with him anymore at this point. It's gonna be a horrible contract for Texas.
If he comes in out the pen, he's likely going to throw harder and might cause more damage. Bullpen usage is helpful in terms of fewer innings, but they tend to be higher-stress and higher velocity, and you don't always get to rest your arm on a normal routine. I believe his 2018 injury that caused him to miss 2019 was out of the pen in the playoffs.
I've been in that corner for several years but they went and signed him to bigger money and penciled him to start so I've accepted that fact.
I still think it could be a pretty meaningful quote. Brown was asked who could come up and help, maybe not opening day, but at some point in the first half, and the fact that Gilbert (and not an older prospect like Pedro Leon or Yainer Diaz) was who he responded with is big. Now, it could be meaningless. But if Gilbert is assigned to AA Corpus to start the season I think that would be a big sign that there’s some meat behind what Brown said.
Astros won, so of course they won't have any hard feelings. And it's not like Tucker would have been attacking the Astros in the hearing, so there's nothing for them to offended by. Who knows what Tucker is thinking, though. Corbin Burnes seems pretty pissed at the Brewers at the moment.
