Wally for Taylor, Kandi and Hassel TE

Then Hassel to Denver for Skita.

Strange crazy idea I had in the Skita thread. Hey, it is summer...people suppose get crazy. Things are slow enough around here. Kick it around.

    The deal :

    Taylor and Pike to Minnesota
    Wally to Houston.

    deal # 2 :

    TE to Minnesota
    Kandi and Hassel to Houston

    deal # 3 :

    Hassell to Denver
    Skita to Houston

Why Minnesota does it : Exit big contract for Wally, who's not a locker-room fave. Exit Kandi, who hasn't made friends. Minnesota gets a decent scoring forward who'll fit in with the clique there. Minnsota saves money with the TE expires. They can get a vet min. backup center. KG is free to roam the 3 and 5 spots to exploit matchups. They save a bunch of money now, and more later.

Why Houston does it : Wally shoots over 50% from the field. He shoots better than Brent Barry. He can play either the 2 or the 3, just like Tmac. Putting the shooting there allows us to spread the floor and still use a defender at the point. Kandi can function as a backup center, and maybe JVG can get something extra. Skita gives us a nice potential 7 footer at the 4 for the future. We get rid of Mo Taylor, and use the TE. We can use the MCE to get Mike James or Damon Jones, and we're good with depth.

Why Denver does it : they've been trying to swap Skita for Hassell, but Minnesota had no interest. We help, they happy.

Ok, shoot away. Your happiness so I happy.

If Dawson can do this - he will be worshipped.

But I don't see it happening.

So Minny is going to get rid of their starting center and two guard to get a back up power foward and the TE. Yeah, they're going to need that TE if they make that deal....

I'd much rather have a good defender at the 3 than Wally. And I doubt Minny would be looking to move Kandi and Wally for essentially Mo. It saves money sure, but I'm willing to bet they keep the core together, try to make one more run before tinkering, unless someone blows them away with an offer.

Kandi started 25 games for them last year and played roughly 20 min a game. They arent counting on him too much.

Wally played in 28 games last year and started 0 games. He is a backup for them.

They could use MoTay at the 4. And the TE saves them some money because Wally is way overpaid.

Sounds great to me! Especially since we only have to give up Mo & Pike to get Wally, Kandi & a good prospect. It amazes me how Mo's trade value has sky-rocketed this offseason on this board. Seriously though, with Wally's contract, I don't see CD pulling a trade like this since the organization is on a contract diet.

But, everyone is right. If they can pull it off, it woul be great.

    wally's contract is until 2009.

they'd trade Kandi though... he actually HURT them last year by playing. they're better without him.

    Wally's contract...

    04/05 - 9 million
    05/06 - 10 million
    06/07 - 11 million
    07/08 - 12 million
    08/09 - 13 million

Come to think of it...The Twolves would be crazy not to do this trade if it was on the table. They need to get rid of this crappy ass contract.

This trade falls within the real of possibility. If CD pulls this one then its on. However, the wally contract bothers me. its longer than MoT. But the trade excemptio for Kandi is perfect. And if we can get Skita that would so rock.

Wally isn't worth it at all, and JVG would likely have him put in the trunk of a Cadillac before training camp even starts.

Also, I don't believe TE can be split between two players, but I may be wrong.

You also have to keep in mind we are division rivals. I don't think Minny would want to improve us that much just like there was no way Shaq was going to Dallas.

If Les is willing to go well over the cap, I'm all for this trade. But once Yao gets his max deal, we'd be well over the cap with him, McGrady and Szcerbiak.

And personally, I'd rather have Trenton Hassell than Skita. He's a great defensive 3 that has proven to be productive. Skita looks like a bust to me.

We're not division rivals anymore but we're still conference rivals.

    From Patricia Bender's site :

    2003-2004 NBA Salaries

    4. Minnesota Timberwolves $70,589,120

    15. Houston Rockets $55,401,432

Minnesota also has re-upped Troy Hudson.

Minnesota needs to shed a little payroll. Houston could stand an increase into the low 60's. Minnesota would exchange the bad Wally contract that goes 5 more years for the bad Taylor contract that goes 3 more years. They get Pike to fire away from the bench like they reduced Wally to doing. Clique is very important in Minny and players must get along with KG, Spree, Sam, and Hudson. Wally and Kandi are on the outs.

In Houston, those guys would play a different game. Wally would get open looks, and he'd have Yao behind him to help his slow zone D. Kandi would be Yao's backup - free to foul and use his body. Low expectations going in, should suit him fine. He'd have a chance to show something with JVG. Skita would get some minutes and the chance to be a scorer off the bench. It should suit them.

The gamble on Houston's part is that they would get a brand new injured Glen Rice and Two Sandwiches. I don't think so. If they don't do it because they think they can pick up better stuff and fill out a roster with holes and aging parts - well, we haven't seen that they are very good at picking up those spare parts so far.

Spree and Cassel have MAYBE one servicable year left. Wally will go back into the starting line up soon. But hell, it ain't like I wouldn't do it. I just don't see it happening.....
