what is the deal with the name of this hotdog joint. does anyone here really know what a weinerschnitzel is?
I probably shouldn't mention this but.... Back in '92, they had the "2 for $2" on the Big Mac's in Lubbock. There was one within walking distance from my place, so I walked over there at 3 a.m. Unfortunately, only the drive thru was open, so, being without a car, I was stuck. Anyhoo, I started asking the people that drove up if I could order with them and I would pay my share. Being in the inebriated state that I was, the first car gave me a horrified look. I walked away. Next car was more than willing to accomodate. I gave them $4 bucks and change. Unfortunately, the first car complained to McD's, and they called the police. I had just received my 4 Big Mac's when the red and blue's started flashing. The police were very polite, but did ask for my identification. Much to my chagrin, I had an outstanding traffic warrant. The police took me inside the McDonald's in handcuffs while waiting for another patrol car from the area I had the warrant in to get me. But I talked the officer into getting my food while I was waiting. While in handcuffs, the policeman hand-fed me a Big Mac! As for the other 3 Big Macs..... they were never heard from again.
When I lived in Los Angeles, Pinks was a stop I used to make sometimes on the way home from gigs and rehearsals. Back then my stomach could take it but now it can't. The other place I used to go to when I was hungry and short on cash was a place called Oki Dog. Their specialty was chili-cheese hotdogs....wrapped in a tortilla!
Anyone in Houston: Please run down to JCI, pick up 2 regular dogs (with nothing but cheese) and an order of cheese fries, dump them in a USPS Priority Mail envelope, and send it to New York, New York, care of VesceySux. I'll be eternally grateful. KTHXBYE.
We've actually considered doing something similar. My sister out in California loves JCI and Shipley's chocolate filled. Whenever we go see her, we always take a dozen donuts for her, which we will do this Saturday when we meet her in Vegas (Vegas baby, Vegas). We've given thought to taking her coneys, but they probably wouldn't last and the smell on the plane might bother some peeps. Not anymore than my gas passing does, mind you, but those are easy to conceal on a plane.
WHoo! I will take advantage of this! My father is flying in from Saudi (to Houston) in the next 2 hours! We are so going to JCI on our way back from the airport! My grandparents used to send me cookies through the mail from Houston to Leysin, Switzerland. They were so good....hmmmmm

The Bay Area location was pretty busy. Almost saw two guys get into a fight over a parking space. Then the rains came. The Texas Chili Dog is my personal favorite. I cannot stand that processed cheese that they put on their coneys. Give me the real cheddar!
Most locations have Coney Sundays for 99 cents. If you're only going there for the coneys, I'd say go to HEB. It's not worth it. btw, Delaware Punch rocks.
Read this post before lunch, and I just got back from JCI on 1960 near 249; couple of Cheese Coneys, onion rings, and Dr. Pepper sure hit the spot! Managed to get it all with the 5 bucks and change I had left in my wallet too. Sadly, I also realized how involved this board has become in my actual life.
