Wemby left Parker's French team to go the Metropolitans this year. Even after Parker told him they would build the team around him and give him freedom that the Met's have given him. So there may be trust issues between Wemby and Parker. Plus I'm not sure how close Parker is to the Spurs post-retirement.
There’s really no difference between picks 5-7 in this draft and the bottom three teams have the exact same odds at the top 4 picks. It’s safe to forget about the tank race between HOU/SA/DET at this point and start looking at the Nets falling into the play-in. The only way to raise the Rockets odds at Wemby/Scoot.
Even in the unlikely event everything goes great you STILL have a player who won't develop for the first 2-4 years of play. Green/Smith are developing but make too many mistakes to contribute to victories. Sengun is the closest thing we have to a productive young player. Very rare indeed, maybe 1 in 20 or so nba players under the age of 21 genuinely contribute to victory.
The NBA isn't going to let a potential generational player & cash cow go to a team where millions of dollars may be at risk by sending him to a team that can't get their $hit together. They are already marketing Wemby and broadcasting his games, they are ready for him and the Rockets are just not. The Rockets FO screwed up big time with Silas.
For the record I don't think the NBA has any mechanism to influence the draft. In fact there are numerous mechanisms to prevent exactly that. Don't forget nba teams are owned by Billionaires who manage risk for a living and have literal armies of attorneys to prevent exactly the shenanigans you seem to think occurs. Even a whiff of favoritism would cause a massive meltdown of the league which is also a lot for silver to risk.
Hmmm heard this name in the Sengun thread and digging around I found this: https://clutchpoints.com/dirk-nowitzki-shooting-coach-drops-game-changing-take-on-victor-wembanyama
Googled that coach's name and it says he is 77. It's an old school idea that young players shouldn't lift weights. I agree that at his height he needs to stay thin. But he should try to be strong and thin, ala Kareem.
I'm going to be laughing my ass off when the Rockets do the same thing like the Texans did - 1) Lose every ****ing game; 2) Make the fans feel shitty all season; 3) Go on winning streak when it doesn't matter and break the hearts of fans; 4) Kick us out of the Top 3 picks to have a shot of getting the next generational player of the NBA. Granted, I think we need a floor general and Scoot Henderson can be that piece we need, but I can see this will end up being the 2022-23 Stone/Silass's blueprint to success.
There's 0 chance of a win streak and even if so, basically no chance of moving out of bottom 4. Relax, our 12.5-14% chance at relevance is in the bag
This can’t be true cause If that was the case then New Orleans wouldn’t of gotten Anthony Davis that year he went number 1
Anthony Davis, as good as he is and was as a prospect… he wasn’t considered a generational talent and definitely wasn’t a global star. Wemby, more or less, already is.
