we shouldnt worry about school shootings because statistically speaking it wont happen to you or your kid...but transgender people competing in sports is a serious issue that effects us all. and dont get me started on CRT!
God created us in his own image. He uses lightning and we use guns. He has earthquakes and we have nukes. It’s only fair, right?
Dang.....this is the new world we live in, mass shootings almost daily and yet we can't get sensible gun laws in place. This poor girl has gone through something that no child should experience at any time in their lives yet alone twice. We just hear "Thoughts and Prayers" and then we here the same old crap, guns don't kill people, people do. I think I have become numb to this, I am no longer shocked when something like this happens, its just normal......kind of like a cop will end up killing an innocent person and they may or may not be fired, hey it is what it is and we don't seem to learn or change.
it is just another day in America while accepting that current reality, I hope we are never ok with it
See, this is why this country will always be infested with guns. Lets be real, no one cares enough to actually solve the issue since the event is still a rare occurrence based on statistics. They rather have their guns, argue that bad guys will get guns anyways, and state that it's no big deal due to the small statistical chance of you being caught up in one of these.
Possession of a loaded fire arm in a vehicle is just a Tuesday for conservatives..... amirite? Good thing he was still able to access loaded firearms!
Because I have forecasts that tell me when it's going to rain. They might not be 100% accurate but a f**king thunderstorm isn't going to show up in my house unannounced and kill me. To be able to just look at the number is unbelievably cold and inhumane.
Even with those forecasts, the chances of dying by lightning strike are still as high as dying in a school shooting. That's how rare dying in a school shooting is. Numbers are cold, but that is what policy should be based on, not feelings. Roy Sullivan - Wikipedia We shouldn't worry about those things either, now you are getting it. There is no need for government to get involved in any of these issues that are very rare.
Put 'rare' into some perspective... Lifetime odds of death in America below. It is from 2015, so it's outdated. Death from motor vehicle incidents has stabilized and fallen recently while deaths from guns keeps climbing. ~39k motor vehicle death in 2020. ~43k gun deaths in 2020. Data | NHTSA 2020 Gun Deaths, By The Numbers - Alliance for Gun Responsibility Foundation
The GOP should love her. They want permitless carry everywhere. He wouldn't have been charged with a crime in Texas.
But but but I thought it was 1 in 10,000,000. @StupidMoniker said so. Seems to be way more likely to die in a mass shooting that by lightning. But still...since it's just 1 in 11,125, there's no need to do anything. Since it's just 1 in 130,000 to die in an earthquake, what's the point of reinforcing buildings in earthquake prone areas. There's no reason to go inside when a lightning storm passes because it's so unlikely to die from it. 1 in 60,000 for a tornado? Why do those sissies have tornado shelters?
That was school shootings in a year, not any shooting in a lifetime. You should also take cover or shoot back if someone is shooting at you, the same common-sense type of response you have to earthquakes, tornados, and thunderstorms. How many threads have you seen on the ineffective federal response to lightning though, or earthquakes, or dogs, or bees? Why so much less focus on those than the equally or less dangerous school shootings. I guess you don't care about the kids killed by dogs or bees or lightning or swimming pools, right? It isn't that these are all pretty rare causes of death that you don't need to worry about. What about falling? Where is the common sense ladder control? The irony is, I probably do more to combat gun violence than almost anyone else here.
Using this to assert your politics is so……you. Republicans/conservatives may be slightly more to blame but don’t pretend there isn’t guilt to go around for all parties. I’m surprised that you didn’t fit in some sort of Jalen Green put down or trade scenario. Don’t be a caricature Kevin.
Not a mass shooting, but a grandpa and dad got into an vehicular altercation at my neighborhood elementary school and the grandpa pulled out a gun and started waiving it around as all the kids letting out. The school is in a upper middle class neighborhood with the smallest homes costing about 700K going into the millions. As a country, we literally push guns on people like it's a religious book. I say this as an avid shooter and hunter.
