Hey, my band SlapShifter is opening for him at the Rhythm Room on Friday. That guy is really talented.
Jeff, you probably already know about this site. It's probably my 2nd favorite website after this one http://publicradiofan.com/
I knew that . While I am looking forward to seeing him, Slapshifter is a really fun band to see, so I am looking forward to seeing y'all again (for the third time).
Awesome. I was really impressed the first time I saw Forsyth, but what's up with the missing 'e' at the end of his name?
Why, yes, I did! Sunday night, right? It came on after a show hosted by some kook named Reverend Huey or something like that. What a good pair of shows! I am an avid public radio listener and have been to virually every metropolitan area in the US. I am yet to find a city with worse public radio than Houston. Houston's radio is a civic disgrace. KTSU is the only station that does not infuriate me continually; they just irritate me regularly by backsliding into muzak rather than real jazz. KPFT gets worse and worse every time I listen to it. On the rare occasions they play music, I end up wishing they wouldn't. Back in the 80's KTRU was absolutely essential. Now it's obviously just a bunch of kids who get off trying to be as abrasive and out-there as possible. It's a totally irresponsible waste of an FM license.
Your nuts. I disagree with you. I found out about lots of great bands via KTRU through the 80s-90s... Trenchmouth, Belle and Sebastian, Godheadsilo, Stereolab, Unrest, Pavement, Shellac, Mercury Rev, Unwound, Tortoise, and many others up until today. Instead of complaining about what you don't like about the station, how about complimenting about something cool that you discovered through listening to it. If you turn on KTRU most of the time you will not hear some guy banging on wood. That is a gross exaggeration and it's completely not true nowadays. Also, the best show on KTRU is the Funk n' Soul show on Thursday nights. Vintage rare '60s platters!
