Rockets could also move up to get Wemby, if they land the 3rd or 2nd pick just package Nix (another lottery talent) with it for the 1...
Wait a second...have you just been posting you're own tweets all this time? I couldn't even imagine the frustration of Jokic doing all this work to setup a wide open team mate...and it's Draymond Green...or Jimmy Butler...on the 3pt line LMAO. Also, is Steph at #7 not a top pick? You gotta really suck to be 7th worst team.
I have not allowed myself to believe that we will get Wemby because it’s very unlikely. I’m assuming we don’t luck into the #1 pick. We’re just trying to give ourselves the best odds of getting the best pick. looking at the standings, we know who is gonna finish in the bottom 4. The odds of the #1 pick for bottom 4 are all pretty close. So we’ve basically succeeded in the tank. I get that we want the absolute best odds, but for the most part, the tank is locked in. so i figure we need a plan for the most likely outcome, which is that we get a pick in the 3-5 range. And assuming we can’t get into the top two picks, what do we do? Because that’s actually the odds on scenario. the tank is locked in. Getting Wemby is now pretty much up to the draft gods.
if you dont like butler you can insert middleton or klay into starting lineup No, 7 is not the top pick its cute attempt to redefine the meaning to insert perhaps the best player ever and who never saw as the top pick or nearly envisioned what he will able to do. It just goes to prove how arbitrary and unrelated the draft order is to the actual quality of the players and their future ability.
can you do the math for me if chances of getting wemby is 7% what are the chances of winning the title with him? ie chances he stays healthy? % he stays happy in houston? % his game translates to nba? % he has good chemistry with teammates? he fits with coach/coaching he is not a headcase? nba doesnt change rules to make him ineffective? he has injuries luck( this is not the same as he stays healthy, almost every player is injured sometimes its just that some players injuries happen at the most inopportune moments) other players dont collude and create the dynasty like warriors that wont allow him to win? % now i hope its more clear how much of an unfounded gamble wemby is even if you do draft him...
Generally Amen Thompson. I like this way of putting it, minus the amateurish comps. https://hoop-social.com/2023-nba-draft-prospect-rankings/ I'll put my thoughts this way: 1. I will buy a Wemby jersey on day 1 if we draft him 2. I will be ecstatic if we get Scoot 3/4. I'll be frustrated but have hopeful resignation if we get Thompson (don't know much about Miller), but will expect trades of existing players (Jabari, KPJ, KJ, Tate) to balance the roster better and get a starting PG (could also be FA signing.) 5. I'll probably punch something. These guys will be serviceable NBA players, maybe even all-stars, but not someone you suffer for 3 years under the Fertitta-Silas-Stone-Apocalypse for.
D*mn . .. No one over 6'8???? (Outside of the Obvious one) Where have all the big men gone???? I think at this point I would trade JAlen/Jabari and KPJ for Wemby My Feelings are - We going to have 60 Million this summer Who are we gonna spend it on?? I know Wemby will have growing pains I know Sengun will get better So . . .Keeping Cap Flexibility is best until they ready Rocket River
Sadly the entire roster and chest of picks wouldn't work for Wemby. We have to win the lottery, that's precisely why tanking is so important. Youi either take these chances or you don't get them.
#1 picks are handed out to teams that need some kind of star player to be financially viable, see: New Orleans getting CP3, AD, and Zion back-to-back-to-back. It's the same reason why the Rockets didn't lose out on their pick in 2021, becoming the Billy King Nets 2.0 but with no hope of attracting free agents is not how you convince owners to buy teams. The Knicks printing money regardless of the team being good or bad probably hurts them quite a bit in this case, the NBA has very little financial incentive to support a team that can sell seats for hundreds of dollars regardless if they win 16 or 60 games. The Knicks also don't have the national brand the Lakers do, and a dormant bandwagon fanbase that emerges every time they're good. San Antonio is a middling market that's not familiar with a long rebuild at all, they went straight from D-Rob to Duncan to Leonard. They're getting Wam Bam, besides, all the other contending tank off teams either already won the top overall pick recently (Detroit, Orlando), or picked top three multiple times recently (Charlotte, Houston) That, and San Antonio's lost twelve straight. They are beyond doo-doo.
Four games to watch: March 4th and 5th - San Antonio March 31st - Detroit (5th to the last game) April 7th - Charlotte (2nd to the last game) Who can out tank who down the stretch?
