Heh, Drew Bees is also listed at 6' ... no way either of them is 6 foot even in shoes unless they are wearing fancy heels.
Brees measured at 6’ 1/4” at the combine barefoot. Young will be lucky to measure 5’10. There’s pictures recently of them standing next to each other and Brees is clearly taller Edit* post above has the pic
He does look a bit taller than Wilson (5' 11) ... looking at the other picture Young's shoulders are quite a bit lower in addition to just being shorter overall. Anyway 5' 10" sounds about right I'd guess around 175 pounds... a very small frame for a NFL QB.
That’s not a new picture (but new to me, first time seeing it) but every time I see a pic of Bryce standing with someone, he gets shorter and shorter. Looks short next to Brees in that one pic. Looks short next to Stroud.
**** it I’m in. Let’s draft BY. Players play. Let’s get him a real effing OL and let’s go Texans. EDIT: my opinion is obviously very important so of course Texans management will give it its due consideration
His base is on par with or stronger looking than most in the photo...and that's the key to his success, his footwork is top notch! If there were ever going to be a successful qb in the NFL at his size, now is as good as any with the way they are calling games to protect the qb. His intellect, game sense, and arm/feet combo will take him as far as his body will allow. If we take him, I'll be watching like a mom, lol
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has a chance to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The former Heisman Trophy winner has consistently been amongst the best players — regardless of position — at the collegiate level. He certainly caught the attention of new Carolina Panthers quarterbacks coach Josh McCown. In a recent appearance on a podcast with “Underdog Fantasy,” McCown outlined what makes Young such a special prospect. “He has a play-making ability that’s rare,” McCown said. “I think that’s what’s catapulted him up into this conversation of being a top-five pick. With his size and his frame and his athleticism, there’s a lot to be concerned with, but there’s also a ton to love. I think you’re going to see that when you turn the tape on, is exactly that. Just love his arm efficiency, the way his body moves, the way he’s able to generate power and quickness with the football and his arm I think is really, really good. I think it’s what you’re looking for in a top talent. So he checks all those boxes, but now let’s go see him play. Let’s see what he looks like and let’s see some of those attributes and play-making is right there at the top of the list.” One thing that stands out about Young is his ability to maneuver the pocket and make plays outside of structure. He does not get rattled, and can sense pressure from a defense before it even gets to him. “You’re going to look across the landscape of draftable players coming up this spring and there’s going to be guys as these grades start pouring in that are just — they’re going to be good pro football players,” McCown said. “They’re going to have pro football qualities, right? But then you’re going to see things that start to go above that line and you go, ‘Okay, that’s different. That’s a little different than everybody else.’ I would put this type of thing (pocket presence) for Bryce Young in the ‘that’s different than everybody else.’ I don’t know that there’s another quarterback in the draft that can do this type of thing right here.
I believe this has been posted before, but since the quotes are making the rounds after McCown got hired by the Panthers:
This is exactly what the Colts should be saying regardless of whether they want to move to #1, in order to scare the Texans into trading up.
