Is there any protection on this potential swap? I mean with less than 25 to play, the Clippers are closer to the lottery than the playoffs.
Doesn't that seem like an odd number? Only way 6th pick is attainable is by being the 6th worst team in the league.
OKC also has a swap with the Clippers and OKC has first priority. So if the Clips miss the playoffs and end up with a top 4 pick they could retain the OKC pick they end up with if OKC ends up with the 5th or 6th worst record which could result in pick 6.
I wonder if KMJ + The Clippers pick can get you too 10-13. Wallace, Walker, Whitmore and Black are all players I like.
As of now there are 11 teams with between 27 to 29 losses and the Clippers are at 28 losses. This pick could end up anywhere between the lotto and 22 IMO. Kawhi and PG are also both ready to miss the season on a moment's notice.
They are only 2.5 games ahead of the lottery and I do expect at least the Lakers and Pelicans to overtake them. They probable still eek into the playoffs, but it is no way guaranteed that they end up with the 4-7 seed, especially if Kawhi or PG get hurt. Staying ahead of OKC will be another test since they have a bunch of head to heads, but unfortunately they are all at home. I see them going 10-13 the rest of they way.
Same with Suns and Mavs. Luka, Ayton, CP3 and Durant could all get hurt again. The Kings do look good and could challenge Memphis for the 2nd seed, the team effort is outstanding. Fox has been playing like an MVP candidate.
Scoot & Ware or Lively Wemby & Trequavion Smith biggest needs are Wemby, backup center unless we take Wemby (because Sengun would then win 6th man of the year every year) and point guard. A sniper as well but gradey dick is too high for top 2 and he will be gone by clippers pick but I would love Emoni Bates in the 2nd
No chance. Stop with the Wemby is a center non sense. Tall players can play other positions too.. he is way too skinny and fragile to play nba center. Best thing for him would be to have Sengun bang with bigs and he helps weakside. I see Wemby as a sf. KD like. And small ball five for a few minutes a game.
So if the pick ends up in the 20ish range, what are you willing to give up to move into the lottery to get your guy? Christopher Garuba Future 1st ? What would it take to jump 10 spots?
unless we see another Sengun type player that could fall around late lotto, im assuming we will trade the clippers pick swap/Bucks pick for a future pick or as part of a package for a star. KJ, Garuba, Tate and either KPJ or Christopher (or both) should all be made available for the right asset. Consolidation is a must this offseason…I hope.
If any of those could move us in to position to grab Wallace I'm all in. A Wallace & Green backcourt given time would be nice.
