Dream is considering Toronto and Indiana. Teams that will not win a championship this year. If Dream left us, i expected him to leave for a team that could win it all this year (L.A., S.A) But instead he goes for these teams, that can give him more money. This leads me to believe he has sold out. ------------------ I do not believe in god. And it is nice to know that I am going to hell with Hitler, and McVeigh. Although I do not know why.
It is not the money. It is lack of respect from the Rockets. ------------------ Protrolls.com! Keep the ???? alive! The ZRBucks!
It so not abt the dollar dollar bill that if Les spent abt 50k on a statue of Dream and changed the name from Compaq Center to The House That Dream Built, Dream would play for the vet's min. ------------------
Hakeem should quit worrying about how much respect the Rockets have for him, and show some respect to the MILLIONS of fans who have supported him in Houston for 20 years. We deserve better than this. ------------------ T-Pooh and BahDakota went up the hill, to make a bet on a Foreward. When it all came down, they were nowhere to be found. thanx colby, i think u know what im talkign about. Dream is going for money and that is it. SELLOUT ------------------ I do not believe in god. And it is nice to know that I am going to hell with Hitler, and McVeigh. Although I do not know why.
Yes. He did. He sold out the last game of the season against minnesota. Love my bobblehead. Always will. ------------------ I have seen much of the rest of the web. It is brutal and cruel and dark. CC.net is the light.
Once again, if it's about the money, he'll stay here, I know this isn't popular, but unless we do a S&T then he won't be able to get more anywhere else than he can get here. ALthough I liked the Hakeem for Keon Clark S&T that was proposed earlier on another thread. ------------------ Anyone need a C/C++/Win32/HTML/PHP/SQL/Java/Perl/x86 coder?
Yeah, we deserve better! Two championships just aren't good enough. I expect a check from Hakeem by Tuesday! ------------------ Protrolls.com! Keep the ???? alive! The ZRBucks!
Two championships were great, and I'm glad that the rockets won them, it was a great time, but now it is time to move on. ------------------ Anyone need a C/C++/Win32/HTML/PHP/SQL/Java/Perl/x86 coder?
Anybody who thinks the Rockets management isnt searchign out every possibele avenue for the resignign of Dream is an narrow minded idiot. Theres really nothing else to be said on this subject; theres only so much the Rockets can do considering they have three other quality free agents to appease. Anybody who feels otherwise is obviously drippping repetitive babble out of their ass. ------------------
I think that, from Dream's point of view, money & respect are one & the same. If he leaves because they didn't offer him enough money, then that would indicate to me that he measures respect by how much money he gets. The Rocket's management, players, & fans have more than made it clear, that we want him back. After all, how many other teams would put all other FA negotiations on the back burner & risk losing out on their current FA's & any other FA's, while waiting on an aging player, that will probably, only play for two more partial years. If that's not enough respect, then how about the respect his teammates are showing him? How many FA's will sit around & watch the available dollars drying up, as other FA's are signed, & risk being left with the table scraps, if the Rockets suddenly decide to meet Dreams salary demands? If that's not respect, then I don't know what is. The only disrespect that has been shown toward Dream, was that he wasn't being put in the game in the fourth quarter, of the first half, of last season. In defense of Rudy on that point, he was under the impression that Dream was going to retire, that Dream was not fully recovered from his injury, he was implementing a new offensive system that didn't fit Dream's game at the time, & he was giving the players that were going to be here the next year, the all important, crunch time minutes. If Dream would take the time to read the CBA & look at the bigger picture, he would probably get a better understanding of why the team is unable & unwilling to pay him what he wants. Yes, with Dream, it would seem that money & respect are one & the same. ------------------ A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still. uh.....it's about the touches. Dream is like a girl. He likes to be courted. And, he likes the spotlight. He would love to be the #2 option on a team. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Unfortunately the ball is in Hakeem's court and we have to wait for him, all the while forcing our other free agents to wait, during which time you know at least a few of them are getting calls from other teams. I just hope Hakeem doens't put us in the same situation that San Antonio got in with Robinson which ended up with Anderson leaving for portland. ------------------ Anyone need a C/C++/Win32/HTML/PHP/SQL/Java/Perl/x86 coder?
Good post Hottoddie. Hopefully the Rockets managment and teammates will express just those words to Hakeem if respect is an issue in his mind. Who knows what Hakeems motivations are. He is not exactly into communication. I have followed Hakeem since I was a student at U of H and was standing next to him the day he first registered. I had just read a low key short squib in the Daily Coog saying a 6'11" Nigerian was enrolling. Interestingly he was wearing African garb and looked fresh off the plane. A week later I saw him walking around the campus with sneakers, stylish shorts and looking like an All American jock. To me he looked the happiest I've seen him since the Championship with Drexler when he was able to play well after coming back from injuries this year. This suggests that he just loves to play. Perhaps he is just looking for a challenge and a fresh start. I think the Rockets are taking the correct aproach. Refuse to grosly overpay him and if he goes, time to move on. Must admit I'm very conflicted. Part of me wants the nostalgia thing seeing Hakeem retire here and part of me wants the excitement of finally going with the team of the future. ------------------
Jeez, he's been loyal to you for like 16 years. Be thankful you got to see him win 2 championships for you and move on. ------------------
Lack of respect?? No offense to anyone, but that is complete bull$hit! The Rockets have put their entire offseason on hold to cater to Hakeem. They have made him the number on priority while leaving the players that would be the future of the franchise sitting there holding their...basketballs. Rockets management was on the phone the very minute Hakeem became a free agent to let him know how much he means to the franchise and how much they want him back. I hate to talk about Hakeem like this because he IS The Houston Rockets, but this is totally about the money and I say if it continues much longer, cut the old horse loose and take care of pressing business which is retaining our core players and signing the missing pieces to compete for a playoff spot. ------------------ Anger is a weed. Hate is a tree.
Flutie, there are some skeletons in Hakeem's basketball closet. He can be a humble man, but he can also be a very selfish man. I would absolutely love to have the Hakeem(attitude wise) of those 2 championship years because it was all about the game. Now, unfortunately it seems it's all about the money. ------------------ Anger is a weed. Hate is a tree.
Dream is the top priority now, because until he is signed or renounced, the Rocks are too far over the cap to sign FA's like Mo. If Webber told the Rockets he wanted to be in Houston, they would have renounced Dream in a hot second. Since he is staying with the Kings, Dream is the Rocks best option. Dream knows he is only number one because Webber was out of the picture. If they wanted Dream all along, they could have signed him to an extension before the end of the season. But everyone was moist for Webber. "Cap space for Webber!" Thats what I heard and Dream must have heard it also. Now everyone wants Dream to drop to his knees and say "thank you for offering me less money than Cato". If it is a business decision for the Rockets, it should be the same for Dream. ------------------ " If all babies are cute, why are there so many ugly people?" Respect is putting off all of our own free agents and still waiting on his ass. We've been able to have verbal agreements since July 1st and here we are on July 22nd still screwing around with Dream and his ego? It's obvious he cares nothing about the predicament he's putting the team in by delaying things this long. If he's that insecure to think he's not respected in Houston then it's just pointless to continue dealing with this. Let Toronto, Indy, and New York kiss his ass and we'll just move on to who really wants to be in Houston. We can't afford to derail all of our negotiations with our own free agents indefinitely because Dream is too stubborn or prideful to recognize the realities of the salary cap. Personally I'm just sick of this posturing by Dream and his agent. It's time to cut the cord and move on. ------------------ First the Sopranos and now Eddie Griffin... thank you New Jersey!
The Rockets have had the option to cut him loose for quite some time. They are holding off, because it is in their best interest to do so. Dream should listen to all the offers, before he makes up his mind. Period. The Rockets aren't taking it personal, we shouldn't either ------------------ " If all babies are cute, why are there so many ugly people?"
