We all do! Win total should be in the 30’s next year.

Morey also recognized the gerency initiated the negotiations of the trade. Ultimately, OKC asked for more picks, they doubted/backed down and Fertitta pushed the botton. Even so, to just start a negotiation centered on a Chris Paul for RW exchange, at that moment, that's a BIG FAIL by Daryl Morey (include Harden's will if you want, still Morey's responsabilty). It's easy to make Fertitta the villain of the story, since Houston lived great nights under Morey. But that's not fair/accurate.

Hey, Morey did some great stuff here, but commited some big mistakes too in his last years. Some poeple here act like he would have never made such a disastrous trade because "he was too good to do that". Reality is, he initiated negotiations, and the trade was made under him.

If it was not made under his acceptance, if he really thought the trade was that humiliating and the situation unacceptable, he should have resigned at that moment. But he didn't, he stayed and talked good stuff about the move.

He's the responsible of that move as the GM of the franchise at that moment.

Then, he later abandoned ship at the toughest moment...... Not fine, not fine Daryl.

well, he has set himself up to improve the roster in the off-season. This is big, he has the money and assets to do that now.

Well, Stone cleaned up part of the roster. Now, Silas has to actually play KJ/Tari more consistent minutes.

Hopefully, post-tradeline basketball will be more entertaining.

All this trading will not matter if the Rockets still have the same coach in the end.

Based upon what? We have kids playing that are clueless on how to win, we have no coach to hold them accountable, we are going to actually get younger with 2 more First round picks.

I dunno man feels 3 years away, TBH.

A lot of your complaints are done with ability of hindsight. The whole point of the OP is Stone has a good job of HEDGING, it means taking calculated risks so you minimize your losses given that you don't have omniscient view of reality. Of course if someone knows what will actually happen then there's no need to hedge.

For example in the Dipo vs Levert choice, Levert only looks better NOW after Dipo proved he is still injured or dealing with something. At the time of the trade Dipo is a former all star coming off injury while Levert is a pedestrian SG with average stats. So given the knowledge we had at the time Dipo is def more valuable than Levert.

The Harden trade was a great hedge by Stone cuz the alternative was 2 low Philly Picks and Ben Simmons. Stone hedged by taking a chance on a former all star and getting picks as well over the 3 time all star with head case issues in Simmons.

The fact that you would say acquiring KPJ for a low 2nd rounder and signing him to a ridiculously team friend contract is a miss calls into question your objectivity.

New coach and very active summer in FA and trade market. Some of these young guys/picks have to be moved for vets.

Thank you, the bolded part is exactly my main point. I did not expect for us to be in this position in 2 years. We definitely do need to make a lot of changes (culture, new coach, etc), the young players need to get better, and we need to put our cap space to use, but we have a bright future.

    The real task is to

    1. Build a good winning culture with honesty

    2. How he handles hierarchy

    3. Trades for a superstar or perennial star player

    4. How he communicates with the fanbase and community work

    5. How he handles max contracts and big contracts

    6. Who is the next Finals caliber head coach.... goes into winning
    culture.

    Add to it.

They have given Porter the keys to the franchise for 2 years and money. That is a major investment that could have been used on somebody else. If Porter doesn't net us anything significant that is a major f**k up. I know player development doesn't mean anything to the Rockets, but competent organizations would have used all the time we've invested in Porter to actually create a player with some future value. What we have is a culture cancer and little trade value.

And the Oladipo thing sure as hell isn't hindsight, everybody knew it wasn't a good idea long term from the start. Lavert's numbers were just as good as Oladipo's and he was under contract and not a pending free agent soon to be overpaid.

Not taking broken ass Ben Simmons, oh wow what a brilliant, hard to make choice.

35 is probably what Utah would achieve this year.

They had Markkanen break into the All Star game, I think that is a tall order.

12 or 13th in the West.

the mere fact that we are in tank mode means he should be fired..tanking is defacto an admission you are clueless...
cause the real gms, the knowers of the ball, can work with any draft picks and create champions not just with the top ones...plus such a terrible job hes done indeed with the top picks silver handed him LOL...i cant imagine doing a worse job...

The Hedge Honcho needs to fire Silas (and the entire coaching staff), put a real coach in, trade/cut Nix and KPJ, get a veteran PG and make sure Jalen and Jabari get developed better than they have been, including some tough love.

Alpi and Tari have been doing great, but Tari should be getting more minutes.

As to how he did at this trade deadline, it's ok. Taking away the opportunity for Silas to play Bruno and Gary Bird was the right thing to do, but Silas will surely find a way to screw it up, by going back to the KPJ "offense" and playing Nix all the time.
