"(If Ryans asks), I’ll pop in and talk to the boys, and I’ll watch practice, and I’ll talk to them, but no, I have no interest in the hours and the time commitment and going to the Combine and going to the Senior Bowl and doing all these things," Watt said. "I do not have interest in that." "I do think that there’s some form of broadcasting for me in the future just because I don’t want to be away from the game," Watt said. "I want to be around the game. I love it. Early in my career, I said I’d never (go into broadcasting), but the closer I got to the end, I realized it’s just too cool. The NFL is awesome, and I want to be around it, but I don’t want to be around it in the capacity where I have to pour all my time and energy into it."
Demeco needs experienced, intellectual coaches to surround him and help with schemes. He's a first time head coach -- he'll make a lot of mistakes. We need some gray haired guys who can manage the ups and downs that will come.
Rumor on Texanstalk that Texans are holding out hoping to poach Shane Steichen from Philly as the OC.
I think the team has to allow it, but why would Philly allow it? Holding out for Brian Johnson, on the other hand, makes more sense to me.
the Texans talk guy is saying the job would be associate head coach. He also may have a contract set expire we don’t know.
On the surface, this would be exciting, but making him OC would effectively remove Steichen from our 2024 head coaching search process. A risk.
Dude, lol. Our 2024 coaching search? So you’re saying we will fire DeMeco after 1 year just like Culley and Lovie? Absolutely absurd. Sometimes I can’t tell if you’re serious or trolling with some of the stuff you say. Absolutely ridiculous.
Judging by his post history and that he was 1 of the 5 people who didn’t like the hire in the poll, I’m not so sure. But I hope you’re right.
On Steichen: He has full play calling in PHI so I don't get why he would jump? There's no personal connection that I know of to Caserio or Ryans. It's hard to see why he would make a lateral OC move to HOU which could potentially hurt his chances at a HC job in the near term if it takes a couple of years to turn around HOU offense. Don't get it at all. Also, every OC candidate they've looked at so far is connected to the Kubiak/Shannahan offensive system, even Troy Walters from Cincy who is best friends with one of the Kubiak kids.
