I wouldn't pick any specific contract but the Rockets will hand out numerous contracts to younger guys. Someone would definitely get offended. I wouldn't want to be in the FO's skin.
Lol right - this thread is going to be looked back on as straight comedy by this time next year. It's amazing how many long-time posters don't understand talent, basketball, nor how a rebuild actually works. Not worried about Green in the least. With a real coaching staff and more experience he'll be fine. Sengun is great, but Green is still the highest ceiling player on this team imo. This is essentially the youngest team in NBA history - not sure what some folks here were expecting to see this early in the rebuild.
Basketball-wise I can see that but business-wise, what is a team to do? Is he marketable? Can he be flipped then for assets?
Same logic is why newbie investors waste their money on penny stocks instead of investing in blue chips. The potential! The upside! 99% go bankrupt. I’ll take production > potential every time.
In the long run you actually have to be a good player to be marketable. Jalen had all the IG followers coming into the league but new toy loses its shine if you don’t produce. NBA socia media is already marketing Sengun way more than Jalen, it’s easy to see who is a real star.
Jalen could get traded this Summer for sure. However it would have to be in a move that coincides with free agent signings and trades to essentially be a contender overnight. Otherwise it's a given that the team should be starting the process now for a long term extension. He's not proven yet as a star by any stretch, but he'll have the value in free agency that a Zach Levine or Aaron Gordon would have. So given your investment, it's in your best interest to figure out the most team friendly extension possible. That being said, as I mentioned, his value right now is higher than it has been since he was drafted in a trade if the Rockets need to re-configure the team on the fly. He's still a huge chip that might lose it's value over time when the team's that are looking to trade for him have less and less of an ability to control their destiny with him. He's in sort of that sweet spot for a trade... IF it's appropriate to make that move this Summer. Not saying I approve of this but there could be situation where the Rockets sign Harden, and trade for Bradley Beal or someone else of that ilk. Jalen in that case would be the primary asset for the team that is trading their star for. (For the record I think a Harden/Beal/Jabari/Sengun/Tate team could be decent, but I would prefer to not make that kind of desperation move to get relevant quick. Just want to give you guys an idea of what the front office and Tillman might be mulling. In any case I think Jalen is the prime subject to get moved if anyone is.)
bro doesnt even dunk anymore like i dont know if he lost passion for the game or what? he is yet to have any posters this season
I’m with you. Mobley was my guy but our org is stupid. But in jalens defense, he’s incredibly young and has the worst coach+gm combo in the league. He has no one to learn from and is playing like a high schooler because the organization is trash and allows it
Agree on this. I’m over the “most 40 point games” thing. Yeah it’s nice to see the potential but I’m more interested in consistent improvement. Glass half full hopefully that comes with a new coach. Tony Delk, Jamal Crawford, Corey Brewer, and Brandon Jennings have combined for more 50 point games than a combination of Dream, Drexler, Duncan, KG, and Dirk.
The difference beetween a good and bad organisation with high IQ front office is Philly and Rockets. Philly picked no1 Fultz found out he is a bust they make a bad pick they traded his ass and didnt gave him the treatment lije a king only because he was No1 pick. Rockets picked green no2 abd we all know after 1,5 jears later and freedom to do what he wanba get min and shoots like a king he is a bust abd naybe worth pick 30. Why they still trearth him like a king? They got some giid picks like sengun, kj and tari why not give them more min and shoots why still green. Y rickets did a mistake pick from top 5 the wirst player but they still think after 1,5 jears and many games green is the next mj funny sane fir the Rockets fans they think green is the next mj
This is pretty dumb why don't y'all look at how Zach Lavine, Devin Booker and even James Harden performed at 20 yrs old? It's not a linear progression to the top esp since Green is only 20 yrs old. Realistically it'll take him till age 23-26 before we see if he will turn into a star or not.
Nobody gives you consistent improvement if you watch young players you see they tend to improve dramatically and backslide pretty often.
